STFU.

The real moral of the story here......MAME is an a$$hole and I wish him nothing but harm. BTW if I looked like such a *ucking tool (as you do) I'd take that pic link down.

zanejohnson, you'll be fine. Get a lawyer, and you won't get anywhere near the max.

good luck

Well, I bet you've learned your lesson.

No, not the lesson about doing drugs.
Not the lesson about commiting crimes in front of your workplace.
Not the lesson about the way your personal risks impact your family.

The clear and vital lesson here is NEVER SHARE YOUR PERSONAL LIFE ON ANANDTECH.

Without reading all 353 posts, let me just say:

Your life did not go to crap in 1 day. It's been headed that way for a long time. Hope it all works out for your betterment.

I agree with most of your ideas but, I define rock bottom as a point in someone's life where they realise that their addiction is ruining their lifes or affecting it in ways that are unacceptable. This realisation often come after getting in serious trouble. Most addict need to reach that point before they become willing or understand that they need to do something about their addiction. I say most. Some people can and do quit before getting in serious trouble but you could say that their rock bottom was relatively high.
Ok then, most people have preconceived notions of "rock bottom". Like being homeless, lieing face down in a pool of your own vomit and asking for spare change to cop a buzz.

He is online at this time.

Possibly he will actually update with the status.

Owning up to mistakes is a different story.

Yes, it's my fault... because I made him get addicted to drugs.:roll::roll:

That is unfortunate, especially with a wife and kid. But, this could be a benficial experience for you turn your life around.
here comes the judgemental crowd

I don't think that was a judgemental statement. now if he had said "Boy that was pretty stupid to participate in a drug deal right in front of your place of employement.", then that could be construed as a judgemental statement.

it wasnt even a drug deal...

it's a guy that comes into my work to get computer work done all the time...

he just gave them to me, i dont even take them....thought my wife might like them.. he just handed them to me and said here try these out.. next thing i know there's an officer running towards us telling us to not move....searches us both...finds the pills...finds his prescription bottle with more of the same pills in it..

carted us off to jail....

he got distribution of a dangerous drug..i got posession of a dangerous drug.. there wasnt any money exchanged or anything..

Let's see how you would feel about a "victimless" crime if I "gave them to your kid who also might like them" as you were going to do for your wife!!!!

god it feels like my life just came crashing down....

Watch NGC's shows about the history of drugs. Back when most were legal, it wasn't entirely victimless.

The OP just said that he had an 8 month old daughter so it's definitely not a victimless crime. Good thing he got arrested maybe he can get some help so that she doesn't have to grow up with a drug-addicted daddy.

Wait, i'm totally ignorant about laws, etc. but how can it be proved that no money was exchanged? Unless the dealer had absolutely no money on him. Why doesn't any small time dealer just claim that they're 'giving' drugs away for free?

It all depends on how he chooses to use his time. If he totally ignores the kid because of his addiction then no it isn't victimless. It would still be perfectly fine as parent's have much of the right to do with their child as they like. Children are almost like property. I mean if a parent wants to beat them then the state intervenes but to ignore? rarely. Neglect is a crime however if he can provide the child with all his basic needs then there is nothing you can say.

My point. Doing drugs itself is a victimless crime. If you choose to ignore responsibilities and abuse it i.e. addicted then yes it does have a victim. Your making a false assumption.

Burden of proof probably should not be on the defendent.

Interesting that he says he has a gf in that thread, and in this one he says a wife. Perhaps this was all BS?

Enjoy your holier-than-thou mentality, it's going to get your asses kicked some day, and I hope it's myself dealing the blows.

Drugs != Bad

Oh, the irony. You have more than enough abusiveness and bigotry in your posts to go around.

Because giving away controlled substance is just as bad as selling it. The issue is not that OP purchased or received his drugs gratis, the issue was a possession. I hope it clears it up for you a bit

Your not gonna serve any time. You are gonna get probably like 3-5 years of probation, have to go to some counseling crap (that you'll have to pay for) and tons of fine through a plea deal. The court systems basically everywhere are so backed up they aren't worried about most users as long as it isn't over and over and over again. Once or twice you MOST LIKELY will not see jail. Granted, it's all up to the presiding judge...but don't worry about it man, I'm almost positive you won't see the iron bars.
