Well theres something weird going on with my board so I decided to get an RMA, hopefully the new board will fix the problem. I'll keep you all posted.

Well my little A4 is testing Prime stable at 4.7 ghz, which is as fast as my AsRock A55M-HVS will let it go. Stock voltage, stock cooler, 43 degrees.

So... why does AMD sell these things at 2.7???

Can you verify that it is actually running at 4.7GHz by posting a superpi 1M time? 14, 15, 16 seconds is what you should be getting, somewhere in that ballpark.

^-- I'm assuming sm625 is buttons.

Nope. I have been reading both forums though. Apparently I am not the only one who is extremely skeptical of a 4.7GHZ llano. I want to see a < 15 sec superpi 1M before I believe anything.

Yeah something is up... What am I doing wrong here? I raised the multiplier to 47x for 4.7. CPU-Z shows 4.7 as does the UEFI Bios. But superpi isn't improving at all with the OC.

I've never OC'd one of these, where's my mistake?

You can change the multi all you want in the BIOS, and it will show up in CPU-Z, but it's not actually running at 4.7. Higher multipliers are locked on these, the highest you'll be able to select is the turbo multiplier I believe. For overclocks beyond that, you have to up the HTT base clock.

Hmm no turbo on my A4 I don't think.

HTT overclocking is pretty underwhelming, right?

At least this chip undervolts pretty well. I'm down to 1.0875.

Could you run some benchmarks with your Llano@4.2ghz.

So we can get a idea of how it compairs to say a Phenom II x4 @4.0ghz.

looks like amd should have scrapped bulldozer a long time ago and just filled a niche market with Llano (budget mobile and budget gaming!! scalable on the same chip!)

I second this. How important is that L3 cache anyways? Also, has CPU-NB been messed with? CPu-Z isn't being very friendly with this question on the Llano =(

Ok, so far I am able to get past that 143 HTT wall by disabling the iGPU and using a 210GT discrete card. I'll post up some interesting results in about 10 minutes.

I think my board is maxed out at 161 HTT. What I've discovered so far is that I'm able to hit 3.7GHz using the iGPU (I'll have to keep playing around to see if I can hit higher) and 4.18GHz using discrete video. I'm very surprised at how little power the A6-3650 sips at idle. It is idling at 46w per my Kill-a-watt meter (64GB M4 SSD, Geforce 210GT, and Antec Neo 520c PSU) and while running Cinebench it tops at 109w. Gaming uses around 80w of power consumption (Using integrated graphics). I'm really happy with this purchase. Anyway, here are my results of tinkering:

Stock:

4.18GHZ:

I'd say a 1.5GHz overclock is damn fun on a budget. i3-2100, you are no match for the Llanos once overclocked. And power consumption is really respectable as well. I'm really thinking about selling my i3-2100 + mobo to get another A6-3650 combo because it barely uses more power but has a better iGPU. If you have a Frys near you, jump on the A6-3650 + MSI A75MA-G55 deal.

With the iGPU enabled, does overclocking the CPU to 3.7GHz still neuter the iGPU? Because that's what Anandtech encountered (not sure if it has been "fixed" now somehow, but the only way I know of is to have the built-in TDP cap removed), and that's the OC deal-breaker about Llano for me. I know it doesn't matter if you are using a discrete GPU, but then I can't see myself buying a Llano if I weren't interested in the iGPU it has.

If you can run some GPU benches to compare stock vs OCed to 3.7, that would be awesome.

Nice results. Any chance in running that Passmark bench I posted, I would like to see it against a 955 stock.

Better wait a while for the A8-3870K and A6-3670K unlocked CPUs (both quads, 3.0GHz and 2.7GHz).

munky, sorry I haven't had a chance to post my BIOS settings yet. I know that I put NB at the around 1030MHz, cpu-nb voltage at 1.22v, vcore at 1.407v, memory speed you can see in cpu-z.

I have a program I made along time ago. Those who don't think the clockspeed is being reported properly download this program I made and see if it does any better. http://www.vbcodesource.com/downloads/getCPUTimeStamp.zip

How's this?

impressive results

I just built myself a mini itx 3850 system here

running stock 2.9GHz at 1.15v vcore/nb
i'm space and cooling constrained, but underclocking was what I really wanted to do if anything

could have built a high end i7/bulldozer for the money I put in this thing ... ohh well

Hey Richie nice results! Have you tried pushing the multi down and max out the FSB that way? That would possibly give you a more precise measurement on your max. You might be able to run a 25x multi and push it up a bit further.

Question, has anyone tried K10Stat to OC in Windows? I know it allowed you to OC the mobile Llano from the multpilier and change voltages. Also, if you want a Llano chip but your not interested in an IGP, just grab an Athlon X4 631.

Thanks Richie for running the program! Looks like it works for Llano. That is a very good ocing result for sure!
