the sensitivity is messed up on mine. before with my logitech optical wheel mouse (the ambidextrous red mouse), i was able to move my cursor to where i wanted it to with ease. now, i usually either fall short of where i want to click or i go too far with my cursor. i tried adjusting the settings already but it still doesn't feel right. trying to play quake or counterstrike is terrible. does anyone have this problem and what is your sensitivity settings in windows?

mine is real smooth, how're you connected? USB port or PS2 port. I had to position the base away from my monitor to get the smoothest operation.

I set the acceleration to Medium and tooled around with the sensetivity button. I think my Intellimouse Explorer is more accurate, but I didn't think the MX700 was so bad in that regard. Logitech software. Now that sucked. God damn non program-specific customizable buttons. Someone over there should be shot.

If you don't have experience with optical cordless Mice, you need to get used to it for a while.
When I first used my Logitech Mouseman, the same thing happed. But later, everything is Ok.

it's usb of course. arggg, it's so hard to lock on to them in counter-strike now. it's as if when i move my mouse and then stop, the cursor doesn't stop. it goes on for another millimeter or something. am i making any sense? as if when i stop, it glides on for a short distance before it stops itself.

Try changing to another new mouse, it'll be the same thing Sorry to hear, but it's YOUR break-in period!

It sounds like you aren't used to the MX's extra precision. Try increasing the sensitivity, turning off acceleration, and not even using the mouseware. It might be hard to adjust if you are used to large motions; the MX700 suits me very well as I use very small hand/wrist movements. If you do use mouseware, use 9.75 along with the gamer's patch. Personally I don't bother with it, as every button other than the scroll up and down buttons work fine and are programmable for me. There may be some adjustment time for you, but I've found it to be exceptional in games (certainly better than any corded or tailed mouse I've used).

My main problem with this mouse was getting used to it having no cord. I kept trying to make up for a slight 'tug' I was used to from my previous mouse, but since there wasnt actually any resistance it obviously would throw my tracking off.

I would hope you would use the mouse for more than one day before posting a thread on "My MX700 Blows".

turn of a pointer acceleration alltogether that is a useless feature imo and is horrible for fps games as well as the desktop

just turn up you sensitivity if you need to

I've had my MX700 for about a week now, and have loved it up until today. Today it's been laggy, imprecise, jerky, and generally worthless as a mouse. Sometimes it will take 15+ seconds for a motion to actually register on the screen. I've reconnected it and recharged it, but it's still acting like this. Guess it's back to a good old corded mouse for me.

Hmmm looks like they yanked it. It might be b/c its now integrated into 9.75, I pulled it down and tried it for 9.70, which is the version that comes on the installation CD. It was listed in "other downloads", but I think they pulled it since 9.75 is supposed to add all button functionality in games. I don't even install mouseware anymore though, as all my buttons work in games and in XP w/out it (other than the fast up and fast down buttons).

Typical issues with connectivity with the base unit. Do you have the base close to your monitor, speakers, or other electronic items? Floresent lights are also good for causing problems with wireless devices.

I would also check out your USB drivers, especially if you are using an nForce2 mobo. Also, try uninstalling mouseware, as I've found it to be lacking. The standard HID XP drivers' work fine for me. That's a pretty poor excuse to give up on the MX700 IMO.

Yeah, mine seemed a little laggy when the base was next to my monitor but ever since I moved the base it works perfectly.

yup....when I had my mx700 it was definitely a nice mouse, but it wasn't noticably different from my dual optical so I sold it, but it was nice not having a cord, but not worth the price to me

I got it for $43 in November, there was a few deal's last week where people got it for $18. MSRP is pretty outrageous, but who ever pays MSRP on computer peripherals?

I was never impressed with the MX700 for gaming. I tried it twice & returned it both times. IMHO the best gaming mouse available is the Logitech Dual Optical-its about as smooth a mouse I can find next to the boomslang mice(I loved my boomslang 2000- till it died)

What kind of mouse pad are you using? The new Logitech MX series are sensitive to highly reflective surfaces. My MX500 had trouble with a 3M precision mouse pad (too reflective).

How far does the base have to be from the monitor? Mine is about 6 inches from my monitor, but I can't move it farther because my setup is crappy (L shaped desk).
So far its been pretty nice to me however i notice sometimes I go to far/not far enough when trying to click on something.

Edit: Would having an LCD instead of a CRT help?

I've have the MX500. My last mouse was the Logitech Dual Optical. I think the MX is a better mouse overall. It feels slightly more precise, and has a far superior shape IMO.
