Keep in mind he paid $1900....
Regardless of whether he paid $2000 or $20, there's no reason why Dell should be sending out laptops with such poor assembly. Some of the stuff he was definitely just anal about, like the HDD bay and SD slot not being flush, but some of the stuff he complained about were legit IMO. Half the point of buying something new (especially a laptop) is that you'd expect it to be in good condtion. Buying something new with dents in it is not a good look for Dell.
Well on my page I split it into 2 different sections, Design flaws, and Build errors. A design flaw is something that was designed to be that way but poorly designed, and a build error are things like gaps, cracks, dents, etc. The SD card slot is clearly meant to be that way and not unique to my laptop, I am not holding dell responsible for it however I do think it is a very bad design and should be changed as many of us would liek to leave an SD card in there without worrying about 1) breaking the card 2) breaking the reader, 3) losing the card. Same with others like the remote control, keyboard appearence, etc. I wouldn't return my laptop for these things but they can all be improved.
However other things like the dent are clear quality control issues. I also believe the HDD cover sticking out, though possibly designed that way, is a clear error on their part. I am not sure how many others have this issue but it is possible it is found on every machine therefor designed that way but what college dropout designed it?
either way I am being shipped a replacement and hopefully it is just as good as my machine (including the Toshiba screen I have instead of the CMO) without all of the build quality issues. cross your fingers =\
