You may have lost your Windows 10 license there, too (assuming you took a free upgrade). If you were able to install (freely upgraded) Windows 10 again on a new motherboard without buying a different license, please tell us how.

I have the retail version.

after I replaced the MB and cpu, the pc took 15 mins to boot up win 10. It kept saying please wait while updating. It restarted twice then displayed Hi and then after a few more mins it finally went to desktop.

It seems to be working correctly. If windows has a license issue it should show up soon.

temps at idle were in 38 -41C zone and maxed out hit around 57-60C.

I have never seen a cpu die quite like that. At first I couldn't tell there was something wrong with the cpu. When I tried another cpu in the board and it wouldn't fit in, it was then I realized something was damaged.

My i5 750 idles and loads at those temperatures, roughly, too.

But once in a while, the system doesn't load the fan throttling program or something. It gets stuck at a low rpm and the CPU goes up to mid to high-80s C. Caught it a few times since I started running HWMonitor regularly when playing games -- computer's old, worried something will give out soon.

Talking about old hardware - I'm still using an AMD X2 939 processor in my HTPC. 4gb of DDR (not 2, not 3 but plain DDR). I think the mobo is starting to fail as I'm starting to get out of memory errors and sometimes, rarely, it will beep with a memory failure error code when I wake it from sleep, and I have to pull the power and cold power up.
