My Supermicro PIIIDME was deemed defective- chipset and memory function. The thing is, and this is the kicker, I think my power supply was the cause. It just happened that Intel was offering a swap on these boards with the 840 chipset. Now, I have the oportunity to exchange this board for a new one (same model) or I can get the PIIIDRE. The DRE uses the RDRAM- of which I have none. Here is my question: How long does it take an African Swallow to travel 10 miles while grasping a bananna? Kidding. Is there really a defect in these 840 chipsets, and is the RDRAM board worth it? Hey, thanks for reading.
