I'm in my front yard watering my lawn and see this car with its nose partially out into the street in front of my neighbors yard. I thought maybe this woman just stalled out cause it appeared to be a manual transmission car and I figured she would get it going eventually.

Well three minutes later, she's still there and cars are going around her and honking and I?m like...Hmmmm?I walked over to her car, and she appeared to be nervous and I asked her if the car was dead and she said yes so I then told her that we should push the car to the side of the street and out of the way of traffic and she said ok.

Just before we started to push, I hopped into the car for the heck of it and gave it a crank and it started right up so I drove it to the side and left it started and I told her I guess the car was ok now and she said thanks and I walked away. I noticed she kind of spoke funny and I was pretty sure that she wasn?t under the influence of anything but not 100% sure. I did ask her if everything was ok with her and she said yes.

One minute later, she?s doing a u-turn to go the other direction and she stalls out half way thru. She?s now just sitting there trying to get the car started and slowly rolling up to the curb and softly into the base of an oak tree and basically blocking the whole street. I went over to her again and she nervously said ?I don?t think I?m doing something right and this is my son?s car.? I had her get out of the car again,as the traffic started backing up, and I hopped in and it started right up and pulled it to the side but this time I shut it off and took the keys out.

I told her I had the keys and I asked her ?nicely? if she was drinking earlier or on any drugs cause it now appeared her coordination was off enough to be concerned and she said no. I then asked her. ?Well why can?t you start or drive this car?? and she said. ?I had a stroke just a while back and I?m not supposed to be driving per Doctors order but my son?s in a bind and he needs me to pick him up?

I really felt bad for her cause she was just doing a motherly thing and was probably very worried about her son but I explained to her that she could have killed herself and others just by taking this chance driving and I think she realized that now too.

I was amazed that she already driven at least 10 miles, being confused as she was, without incident and she had about a mile left to get to her son but I just didn?t feel right giving her back the keys. I told her she should use my phone to call a cab and she agreed but then realized she had no money, no pocket book or anything with her with her so now I?m like ?Oh Boy?

Well I figured what the heck, so I offered to driver her to get her son and she accepted and I could tell she was a little relieved though still nervous and I just told her to relax and that everything will be ok.

I drove to the courthouse to pick up her 18 year old son that spent the night in jail and explained the situation to him and then drove us back to my house. The kid just got caught up in some minor BS from what I could tell and I honestly really didn?t care to hear the details.

The mother was very thankful and said she was surprised that a stranger would do something like that for her and asked me if there was anything that she could do for me. I said nicely, just please just don?t drive anymore to her and she agreed and then I left the car. I handed the keys to the kid, outside of the car, and told him that I wouldn?t let his mom do that again for her own and others safety. I went back to watering my lawn.

Wow, that was incredibly nice of you. You are awarded one million Karma points.

The world needs more nice people like this. I wouldn't put it above certain people here to post a "*rant*: stupid old lady drivers" thread after this incident instead.

*edit*

I just awarded 10 points to your user rating as well; it's the least I could do.

CHIPSTER = TEH MAN!

P.S. Any of you smart-alecks who wanna thread crap, go play with yourself somewhere else.
The lady he helped this morning could have easily been your mother, or grandmother, or aunt or someone else near and dear.

I think you're going to have the highest rating on ATOT!

I gave you a 10 too. It's amazing that with all the idiots out there, there can be those few good people who make a difference in people's lives.
