So gotsmack, according to what I've read from your responses, you set a "limit" on how much you can help people?! And if they pass that limit and still don't grasp whatever it is you teach/explain to them, you just go off on them?

That's not selfish... that's just sheer madness.
1) Don't ever become a teacher.
2) You may have more developed brain for business, math, and "language" but you have no social/interpersonal skill
3) If it's such a hopeless world you live in, what keeps you here?
4) People deservce chances... giving up on them after first trial is terrible and basically giving them a death sentence... that if you can't do it at the first trial, don't try try again. What kind of message are you trying to get across?
5) Please don't have kids in the future if this is where you stand.
6) Don't ever become a teacher.

Instead of patronizing your mother, you should perhaps look into improving the said skills. Your education might actually mean something if you do. If you can't convey information in a manner that can be understood by people, your education is as good as useless.

I'm chinese and I'll move the hell out by the end of the year. I just got my masters in late May and I'm finalizing job offers now.

I would also like to add that my parents have not contributed any money towards my college and graduate education. I live at home rent free because I help my dad with his business 3 days a week and I do stuff around the house like all the yard work, make calls, and translate documents.

OP seems to have mother-hating issues, or possibly has no respect for women in general? Old-fashioned Chinese attitude towards women.

I have to say my mother did not have the educational opportunities that most other people get and grew up near poverty. Her math skills are atrocious, but she is very intelligent. If my grandparents had the money and love to send her to school, who knows what might have been.

Come on....I have the utmost respect for my parents, but you guys need to relax. Just because someone is your parent does not absolve them of any wrongdoings. It sounds like he was trying to explain something, she didn't understand, so she called him stupid. And somehow he's an asshole??

Don't get the GED if you only have 1 year left of high school, because you have to take the SAT IIs which are a pain in the ass (you might have to take them anyway if you are going to apply to a really good state school or better). if you have 2+ years left I hope you study really hard for the SAT IIs.

no, I don't go off on people if they are beyond the limit I set. I normally say something like "You need more help than I can offer you, good luck" if they keep pestering me then I explain to them why I can't help them, just like I told my mother.

I don't even know why you guys are getting your panties all bunched up. What I said was NOT UNREASONABLE and I did not yell at her. I was simply stating the fact that there was a gap in understanding between us that could not be closed.

as for your other questions/comments

1 & 6) I have no desire to teach, the overall pay is crap (but the hours are sweet for gradeschool and high school).

2) I'm actually not that great at math (I can't hold a simple string of numbers in my head, they get mixed up), and I suck at grammer (could never remember all the rules).

I'm pretty good at logic (which is why my writing is fairly well laid out for something done on the spot) and I love business theory.

Believe it or not, I have decent interpersonal skills. I'm not that great of a conversationalist, but I can carry my end of the conversation if you give me enough to work with and people IRL seem to like me or be indifferent.

3) I never said the world was hopeless (some people are and I try ot ignore them). I also want to see how this being alive thing plays out.

4) Yes people deserve chances, but I also have the right to say when I have had enough.

5) I plan on having 2 children someday, but we can not predict the future.
