Damn California... no emissions testing and lax plates process. Do they not even give you temp plates like on paper that you stick on your back window?

Yeah, you should get a paper temp plate. In Michigan, you get your plates from the dealer on the day you buy the car.

rh71 you do get a temp paper plate which goes on your front windshield. Of course some people leave that there for what 6 months? 1 year? more? as to not put their real plates on their car. I had the paper plate but they pulled me over and ran both the plate and my license anyway

Congrats on the new car.

I am myself thinking of selling or trading in my '05 GTO for one of the following: Lexus IS350, Infinity G37-S Coupe, Acura TL Type S, or BMW 335i Coupe. I'm leaning toward the Lexus...

Nice car!

I've been very critical of the Bangle era cars but that car looks pretty sweet...maybe it's growing on me.

Kadarin, I looked into the Lexus IS, Infiniti G37, and Audi A4. The lexus I dismissed because it's 4 door but otherwise a great car

ballmode, why get a 128? it's a nice little car but it looks like they cut off the back end too early. Very close in looks but overall I thinkt he 3 series is mre attractive, more back seat space, more trunk space, and available now while the 1 series doesn't ship until june/july i think?

I think the 3-series coupe looks gorgeous. It's too bad they feel the need to charge $3K more for the coupe than for the sedan - that just feels like a ripoff to me.

I was very critical at first...and now I'm really warming up to it. Never thought I'd ever say that...but so it is.

The best deal of that bunch is the TL. You get loads of equipment, including the best NAV and sound system in the class, for a really good price. Only negative = FWD, but it drives so damned good that it hardly matters. Drive the standard TL first, it's 90% of the Type S, for a lot less.

The most fun of the bunch is the 335i, which will put down times that will rival your GTO (assuming both are stock), and is easily moddable to truly ridiculous levels of performance. Honestly I don't know why they sell an M3, as you could buy a 335i + mods that would make the M3 look downright anemic for the same $$$.

The TL is not bad but I don't think it matches up performance wise with its RWD competition.

Nah, he's just a pussy!

5-speed (or 6?) for life!

You pay more for less pedals. That's not progress, that's regression

Also my purchase was fast, about what 1 weeks form the time i started emailing dealers to me purchasing the car, i only really spoke to my dealer for 4 days before the purchase was made so there is no way they could have had plates etc ready if that is even an options which like i said from what i know it takes about a month for plates
Took me almost 3 months to get my plates. Stupid dealer didn't submit the paperwork for a while I guess.

I had no paper plates the whole time any nobody bothered me at all. I guess you just look shady in that car

I drove off a BMW lot 3 days ago and I had 2 fully registered license plates, my temp insurance card, and registration sticker. Your dealer dropped the ball... or sumpin.

he didn't have to wait 5 weeks for pick-up...

lol actually i will admit I never never driven a manual car and don't know how. So between that, LA traffic, and lower gas mileage for not knowing how to drive stick well (if i learned just for this car) it just wasn't smart to go with with

that didnt make sense at all. just sitting in your car and trying to stay awake isnt enjoyment. after you get used to manual you just dont worry as much about shifting gears.

It did make sense. He doesn't want a stick shift. Get off his nuts.
