"Might" want to think about the SBL........up to you there.......what about CD-RW???? Also, it may be wise, if you have the $$$$ to max out on ram while it's cheap!

I'd try a Toshiba DVD drive over the Pioneer.

Toshiba can read subchannel in CDs, and it's suppose to be alot quieter.

Maybe you don't care about that, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Hmmm thanks for your opinions so far.

Regarding the SBlive...what should i think about?
Is my Sound system adequate...do i not need the newQ equaliser? should i get a digital camera instead?
About the ram...down here in Australia RAM costs a load due to our weak dollar so thats not too good for now.

About the Toshiba...thanks for that! i'll look into it.

There are plenty of better sound cards than the SBLive!.

The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz would be my personal choice, the Hercules Game Theatre XP would be good to if you want the break out, or the Fortissimo2 though I don't think it's out yet.

The SBLive! is almost 3 years old now. I use one and it does the job adaquetly, I have no particular complaints. But there are plenty of newer cards that are better.

I'll have to go with Noriaki here........many people have, and love the SBL and don't have any problems.......but with the other choices you've made..........I'd at least consider the Santa Cruz as an option!

I'd get a pionner instead of a Toshiba.

If you don't play much games I'd get a Radeon 32mb DDR instead of the MX, the 2d quality is far superior.

Otherwise, very nice.

the Santa Cruz Quadzilla? That makes no sense...

The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is their newest sound card based on a Cirrus Logic DSP. This card works just fine with AMD platforms.

There is also the Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla as well, that is unfortuantely based on the Aureal Vortex2. Since Aureal went under and was bought by creative, they no longer produce reference drivers for the V2, so TB has nothing to build drivers on. The Vortex2 is not compatible with many new platforms.

Hmmmm...

I'll look further into the Sound Cards, and maybe dig up a bit of research. Basically i've had a SBLIVE before in a AMD system and it comes out with no troubles, and it does the job.

Samsung 900SL: Yes i will be trying to find the 900NF, Just read a few reviews, but if it's too hard to find i'll probably go SL.

Toshiba DVD: Costs the same as the Pioneer, and if it's better according to your opinions i might go for that as well.

Radeon: I don't play much games, but i might tun on the occassional game or two. What is the radeons 3d performance compared to the MX's? Does the Radeon have good TVOUT...and is the 2D quality so much clearer? thanks in advance!!!
