Sweet, how much? and, do you know about the over rev problem, something about the rev limiter intermitently failing and allowing over reving and then bad stuff happens, sodium filled valves breaking, google it.

Nice. Only problem with buying a BMW now is that they will look dated very soon as the new models become prevalent.

What the hell happened to you? Did Skoorb or NSF4 take over your brain? You used to be able to recognize good cars, as I recall. Maybe I was thinking of someone else.

I use to be VERY pro-BMW, but Bangle and iDrive have since changed my mind. From the mid-90s to 2002/E60 BMW 7-series, BMW was the best car company on the planet.

With that said, I've never liked BMW's SMG. It's cool if Ferrari is doing it, otherwise not so good. I'd personally always prefer a traditional manual tranny. My parents also owned BMWs fior 30 years. The last one they owned, a 1991 BMW M3, cost them just as much to maintain as purchase, spending upwards of $12K in one year on engine repairs alone. Face it, they are very expensive to fix at your local BMW dealer.

I wouldn't expect to own any European car and get by under $5k a year in maintenance. Comes with the territory.

SMG II is a VAST improvement. If you get a chance to drive one, do it, you'll change your mind about it.

Bangle cars already look better to me than the old ones. They seem cartoonish, and fantastic, almost unbelievable, exactly what a BMW should be.

Either way, IMO, all the bangle cars look fugly as hell. Very Nice cars(for the most part), but still fugly.

Interesting POV. BMWs have never traditionally been described by any of those words. The company has been known for conservative designs backed by solid engineering and a hell of driving experience.

I've always thought BMW's should maintain a more clean, sophisticated and refined look, not contemporary or outlandish.

Chris Bangle wanted to break the chain, to do something new, eyecatching, shocking. He wanted revolution, not evolution. Bangle's designs are the future of BMW, and because those designs are draped on a BMW, they are by necessity beautiful.

Beautiful car! My roommate picked up an E36 M3. That car is amazing, I can only imagine what your car is like to drive.

You know Bangle designed the current, E46, 3-series and M3, right? For the most part I agree with you that most of his cars are pretty pug-fugly, though.
