My new boss is...

A fucking moron. I swear this lady is the dullest spoon in the knife drawer.

The back story.

So my previous boss worked in the position for a year. She was a fantastic supervisor and did everything she could to make the place run as smoothly as possible. She was part time doing a full time job but you wouldn't be able to tell by how well things were running. Then came layoffs in the organization.

Unlike most employers who can hire and fire at will, to hire somebody full time currently is near impossible because of a hiring freeze. Employees who have been laid off also have the bullshit 'right' to move in to another position even if they don't match the qualifications for that role. Gotta love the union on that shit.

So...This lady gets laid off from her 'secretary' position elsewhere in the organization. Actually, 'secretary' would be giving her too much credit for what she did in her previous post. She was more a door-man, like those walmart greeters. she applies for the position my former boss had filled. Now because she has seniority at the place she can bump the part time worker and take over the job. She has absolutely no managerial or supervisor experience whatsoever but is allowed to screw the income of a hard working mother of 3...bullshit. But whatever she is the new boss lady so I'll just do what I do.

The Story (Read this part if you are not interested in the back story)

So, I had arranged to work on some special projects around the place before the new boss lady moved in. I had cleared it with my previous supervisor, cleared it with the team that I am working with and cleared it with boss ladies boss...I explained to boss lady that I would be working on these projects and would not be at my usual post for the next few weeks. She asked me to give her a call when I got to work so that she knew I was there, which I agreed to do and everything was fine...or so I thought.

Apparently boss lady has the attention span of a retarded gnat. I called this bitch every fucking day EVERY DAY! to let her know where I was and that I was there. apparently I need babysitting and another mother cause 24yr old baby need butt wiped and ba ba...I get a call today asking where I was and that I hadn't shown up for work in the past week and she was going to terminate my employment. OH THE FUCK YOU DO!

I've been working there a year and change, You've been here 3 weeks and less qualified than a goodwill employee to do the job you're in. I've had 1 complaint the entire time I've been there. I've shown up every day for work and have done everything asked of me and this bitch is threatening to fire my ass as a show of power.

Fuck her, and the horse she rode in on.

PS: I still have a job.
/Rant

I guess now would be a bad time to ask anyone in the seattle area if they want to hire a fast learning computer tech who knows a good deal about networking...

Cliffs:
-Unqualified idiot bumps qualified person from job after getting laid off because of union rules
-I arrange to work on special project with agreement to call new boss lady to check in, clear with her boss the team I am working with.
-I call every day
-New boss lady threatens to fire my ass for not being at work after I called every day.

That's one of the worst boss stories I've ever heard. For her to pull such a retarded move after only 3 weeks...

Not a shining moment for the union.

I have heard similar stories, but not about a receptionist-turned-manager. Usually its clueless college kids or retards related to the boss's wife. Never been in a place where seniority entitled you to ANY job currently available.
Actually, I take that back.
At Hynix Semiconductor we had a department head who wasnt worth a damn. He only got the job because of seniority. Its supposed to be filled by an electrical engineer with many years of management experience. He had NO college, no real leadership skill or experience, and wasnt even that great a technician. He was just more hungry than everyone else and had a few more months employment than the next guy in line.
I blame him as one of the people who fucked up Hynix good and partly responsible for us being out of business today.

It only takes a rotten spot to ruin an entire apple, at this rate we're going to lose the orchard.

You *called* her to check in? As in on the phone? Verbally? With no paper or email trail to prove you were away from the office working on assignment and she knew about it? And now it's just your word against hers?

Sorry, but it sounds like she is smarter than you give her credit for. Good luck.

That sucks man. You should have stuck your neck out for your previous boss. But I guess you wouldn't have known ahead about the situation you are in now =/

You should also document every conversation you have in the hallway including the GPS coordinates of where it occured.

He could have had no way of knowing that she would call him out on this. Documenting every thing he does is excessive, especially since he called everyday, got clearance from his team and other supervisors.

I've been involved in lawsuits that come from "hallway conversations" that resulted in $30,000+ to be dismissed. It always pays to be cautious.

There is a paper trail for the project. There are multiple employees if pressed can attest to my attendance. I am also on the door logs at the proper times. My ass is well covered.

I did, but I have no pull in the situation. This is union rules, there is nothing anybody can do about it other than begin to create a paper trail on this lady. nobody in the department is happy about what has taken place. My former boss was on track to becoming permanent until this lady bumped her from her job.

I don't get the unionized supervisor gig. Never heard of such a thing and I was born and raised in the peoples republic of the UAW (michigan).

Let her really stick her ass in it and roll out all the logs and phone records to prove she lied. Demand a meeting with her superiors and lay it out for them demanding that she be removed for malicious harrassment.
