Whats wrong with Florida??

Really though Im curious, I just moved here.

Nice areas are only within 2 miles of ocean or disney. Everything else is a total ghetto fabulous wreck. You'll pass a multi-million dollar house neighborhoods then drive 100 ft and crackheads are selling on the corner. It is like this everywhere in florida.

The drivers (both native and birds from north) are absolutely completely horrible. I suspect that because of the salt cars tend to not last longer than 10 years so no one cares about paint, door dings, parking bumps, etc. The older women are the worst - who cares if they wreck it, hubby/daddy/insurance will buy me a new one!

The drinking water is nasty. It's slippery and smells funky. The roads are a wreck with absolute non-stop construction that is a result of backroom deals between the politicians and their "brother who owns a construction company".

The roads are completely flat and boring, and everything looks the same. Everything is in a constant state of "dullness" because whatever sickness is in the air causes paint to fade bland.

The people are rude, both driving and in person. It's rare to see people smiling and happy unless you're within 2mi of beach/disney.

My last new car was a beautiful shiny black Eclipse, lasted about a week before it got a nasty door ding that put a nice dent in the driver side. That was the last time I bought a new car or cared about how my car looks.
I don't get these places that paint parking spaces so tiny. It defeats the purpose of allowing more cars to park because now people park over the line and then you end up with 2 cars in 3 spaces, more space than it would take for 2 normal spaces and all this door ding business. It fits your car but no space to open the door. Same thing with new houses that advertise two car garage - you pull your car in but no room to open to door since you're right up against the wall.

It does look like those parking spaces are way too small. There are some lots like that here, where you literally can't open your door unless everybody parks perfectly. Even then, a large person wouldn't be able to get out.

a building i worked at you couldn't park 2 compact cars within the lines and expect to be able to open the doors. i got so many dings in my doors from that damn garage. they eventually repainted and each section lost 2 spaces.

then there's the aholes who park their F150s in the compact spaces in various lots.

the other day i was in a normal size spot, listening to the end of an interview on the radio in my car. a lady pulled into the spot next to me, talking on her phone. i thought to myself right then she was going to open her door into my car. that she did. left no mark or dent though so i didn't do anything.

park like an asshole, this is what you get. Lesson learnt?

Next time, park where there's noone around and walk a little longer to the store. Sounds logical to me.

Five years here and you still haven't learned to read threads? C'mon now.

Anyway, sucks to get hit like that. I bought a new car two months back and when I cleaned it two weeks later I found somebody had run a shopping cart into the front of it. Unreal, because that never happens to me, but there it was 500 miles on the odo. I've taken to parking further away from people now, it's a good habit as our other car has various scratches too because basically people don't give a sh*t about others and couldn't care less if they hit their car.
And...came out today found a new dent in our year old car (the other car we have). Fvcking animals. People are just animals. This one I can probably remove the scuffing but there is a small indentation.

I had already started parking my other car when at a parking lot, basically because of this thread, away from others off in lonely parking spots and now we'll both be doing it from now on.

Rust is pretty rare in Florida actually unless you park your car next to the ocean and it gets sprayed constantly.

There are plenty of nice areas away from the beach, in fact the beach areas are the most heavily populated so everything you state is actually worse there.

Never had bad drinking water and I've lived in several areas of the state, nothing like the rotten egg stench of well water in other places of the country.

As for "The roads are a wreck with absolute non-stop construction that is a result of backroom deals between the politicians and their "brother who owns a construction company" - This is actually something I deal with as part of my job and rest assured FL has less of these shenanigans than just about any other state, and I've analyzed data from 35+ of them.

Most of your rant isn't grounded in reality but you are entitled to your opinions. Feel free to jump ship any time.

Good news!!!

At first the jerk would not return the insurance company's phone calls. Well, they finally were able to get in contact with him and he admitted that he did hit my door.

Check for $250 is in the mail!

Lol dude parks like an asshole and goes after insurance! wow!

Around here the rednecks would literally cave in your door and leave the scene. It's not right, but neither is trying to take up two spaces.

Park in the back of the lot if you want to protect your car.

How did I take up two parking spots? There is no parking spot to my right.

can you post some pics of your coloring books?

lmao

I'm a straight to the point kind of person; no BS, no fusses, no excuses, just get it done yesterday. When I pull into a parking lot, I don't even look for spaces, I just go straight to the farthest lot and park where there is nobody. Done. Over with. End of story. Great exercise too, the whole 15 extra seconds of walking.

And a good laugh as I'm walking through the door already and the same visibly frustrated dumbasses who cut me off to pull in first 5 minutes ago are still making their 5th lap up and down the rows looking to squeeze into a single spot three feet from the front door. Same mentality as driving 20 miles to save .001 cents on gas.

People amaze me.

Listen, I hate to break it to you, but the MAJORITY of people are just about worthless. They are inconsiderate and really couldn't give a sh*t about your property. If you want to take care of your stuff, keep it away from people. I tried, and these sh*theads come out of nowhere like a heat seeking missile straight for your car. But in my case, the missile was REALLY old and barely moving but it still hit its target.
