Just installed my E8600 under my Tuniq.....here are the results (enlarge picture):

Batch: Q820A597

VID: 1.25

Pack Date 7/24/08

Disclaimer: This is 1 hour Orthos small FFTs stable, may take more Vcore to make it 8 hours Orthos stable, which seems to be the consensus around here:

4.3 ghz @ 32C idle......im in heaven. For those that say there is no difference in 2.6-4.0+, you are mistaken. This is one fast chip.

10X multi is awesome, about as close as I plan on getting to an unlocked as far as the Intel lineup is concerned.

whats wrong with p5b, won't take 45nm or what?

Ocguy31, Nice chip! Looking forward to more overclocking results, and can you do some side-by-side comparisons with the q9450? That would be sweet as well. Like a quick crysis bench.

Correct - it is suppose to but I believe a BIOS updated is needed, plus it wont do 8GB

This E8600 is too good to miss , 4 Ghz easy ? thats just sex.

Well it really feels like everything loads faster. 3.6ghz is nothing to sneeze at, so it may all be in my head....but I do notice a difference.

Unfortunatly I cant do any side-by-side benchies, as the Q9450 is already on the auction block :/

You going to settle for 4.3ghz 24/7 or going to try to find maximum clock for 1.400 volts / loaded (within reasonable temperatures) ?

Well to be honest 4.3 is all i've really tried for, 430 FSB just felt right for some reason. But @ 1.33v and 32C idle, I probably have a little more room. I will see what my max is @ 1.4v and post it

voltage climbs exponentially as you get past 4.3

my E8500 does 4.3 @ 1.3(something) vcore

4.4+ is a completely different world in voltage.

define timeline to answer this question.

1. is your timline for this cpu longer then 5 yrs? - Yes
2. Timeline to budget line neha? - No.
3. You a gamer? - No (well varies) But most likely you'll ugprade at neha price drop.

1.45+ is asking for it if your not on water

Note:
under high overclocking conditions spending 300 on water can actually double your cpu life. Spending money on board cooling will also extend hardware life when its under a lot of stress.

:]

gillbot and my other friends get a good 30 min lecture from me on aim when they dont prep there boards for high end overclocking.

yes you need to prep boards if you want it to live a long time under a lot of stress.

 WOW

That is amazing. Great job Ocguy31. You may be changing my mind to go with the E8600 instead of the Quad 9450.

What sort of prepping? I got a E7200 coming up, and I'm probably gonna give it 1.35V max. Share your secrets!

Btw, the E7200 is going with a EP35 DSL =).

Nice chip you got there OCguy and that is a smokin, (no pun), Oc there too. I like to see great OC's and cool temps. And just out of curiousity, why are you getting rid of your Q9450?

@ geokilla, your new E7200 will be a fun chip to play with. Mine is @ 3.6 and I got there with ease. I know I can go higher but I like where she sits now with the voltage sitting at 1.2875v.

@ aigomoria, So, having a 45nm chip on air, using a tuniq 120, it will be safe to to 1.4v acording to your above information provided? I am sure you take the vdroop ito consideration correct? I know you have said that you had some issues with your past yorkie but you are an H20 man. I am an air guy right now.

Pure raw speed. Gorgeous. Screw dual-core, screw quad-core, 4.3 GHz on Core 2 architecture is blazing fast.

Can you post your geekbench scores? Thanks.

Just upgraded to the E8600 from a E6700 @ 3.6

E8600 @ 3.6 to compare
-65mm to 45mm gave me +1000pts. in 3dmark - 16974 @ 3.6
17330 @ 3.7
Vantage p9598 to p10372 @ 3.7
-super pi from 14.8 [went from 14.3 to 14.8 xp to visita64 ?] to 13.3 @3.6 WOW
12.864 @ 3.7

I didn't think the E6700 @ 3.6 was a bottle neck , but these 45mm are just WOW

-so for people thinking core2 65mm @xx = core 45mm @xx add+10%
-even changing memory settings seems to return a big plus compared to the 65mm
-temps low , no point saying , until the software gets updated , after Intel spills the beans on the Tmax

-still playing>

I just got my e8600 on a DFI Bloodiron P35 with 4 GB G.Skill.

Brought it up to 4.1ghz on 1.34v and it's 8 hours Prime Stable so I hope this will be a decent 24/7. (opinions on this voltage? Im idling at around 40c according to Speedfan and load is 47....also can someone please PM me who is familiar overclocking this board? CPU VTT and othervoltage adjustment settings are a bit confusing)

Previous was an A64 3800+ so there's really no comparison.
One of these days I'll try to see what this chip can do but for now I'm happy.

By the way, mine was 7/24 pack date too for anyone who cares.

you have temperature, voltage, cooling, FSB problems to encounter at anything above 10x, therefore, IMO 10x is sufficient.

450fsb x 10 is 4500mhz, pretty much within the voltage & temperature limitations of the 45nm architecture anyway. If you really need that multi, pick up an E5200. Don't expect 4500mhz though because of the lower binning & crappier stepping.

Finally got my e8600 up and running (had been waiting for some new parts). Running on a Vendetta2 with 1200rpm scythe, I'm at 3.95Ghz at stock voltages (1.25V for me). Temps are 47C with realtemp

Just starting to OC, so looks like I've got plenty of headroom to go.

Up to 4.1Ghz now. Failed prime right at 4.15, so am back at 4.1, still at stock everything.

I'm running on a DFI LT p35 with 8gig RAM. It's only rated at 800mhz, so I'll have to do some memtesting at high FSB/low multi to make sure my RAM is good at >400Mhz. (It probably will be good, but want to make sure)
