Holding at 4.1GHz, but I lowered the multi to memtest my RAM, so far, it's memtest stable at 425Mhz.

This week, I'll try and test up to 450FSB on the RAM (just to be optimistic for the CPU OC)

Then I'll start back with upping the CPU again to see where I can go. I want to stay under 1.4V to be safe, and with decent temps still, since I don't use any leaf-blower fans.

I wish I were clairvoyant. I got my E8400 in June or July, and the price on the E8600 would've given a better bang for the buck. Whatever E8x00 version, I GOT to HAVE that E0 STEPPING!!

I'm on the verge of going through CPUs like a gorilla on a food-binge dispatches bananas.

4300@1.32volts

I have a vid of 1.2125.

Runs hot but stable at 4.3 with only 1.32 (+0.1 from stock).

this is on water as well...

don't understand why some E0's run super hot while others run super cool... makes no sense at all!

Yes...there is no ryhme or reason to any of this.

My CPUs since Jan of this year

E6750 -- E8400 - Q9450 - E8600

Shimmishim, I have mine at the exact settings you do, and Im loading about 10-15C less. What is your cooling solution?

dtek fuzion rev1, mcp655, thermochill pa120.2, 2 yate loon d12sm.

my 8400 with 1.37 volts at 4.25 runs around 50-ish.

confusing...

Well, my RAM (8gig of ddr2-800 Patriot) passed memtest at 440FSB last night, so I'll try to up my CPU speed now that I know my RAM won't cause a problem. Only needed 1.9V on the RAM, and 1.4V on the NB to be stable at 440FSB. I doubt I will get over 4.4GHz, without having too high temps.

I think this is a result of people using different programs to determine their core temps. My core temps as reported by Coretemp and Hwmonitor were MUCH higher (10 - 15 degrees Celsius higher) than reported by Realtemp.

I am running stable at 4.4 Ghz, Vcore at 1.28 (reported by CPUZ) with 31 Celsius idle and no higher than 58 Celsius under 100% load.

-it seems core temp should have the tjmax with -10 down to 95 ,mine idles at 31c load 51c- computor room temp @ 26c with that.

-I have mine running orthos stable @ 4.12 with 1.184v in CPU-Z 146.5 won't post @ 4.2 with that voltage ,haven't tried to up it yet. still tracking sub system temps .memory seems to run hotter at less speed.

-but does any one know why on the retail box it states the max voltage at 1.26 [is that the default play and play auto voltage max maybe ?]and the intel specs. state a voltage range of 0.85 - 1.362 and Just so I'am clear , the 1.362 would be whats reported on CPU-Z right.? if CPU-z is correct. if so , there could be lots of head room for 7\24 down the road.

-new overclock's mag on line. http://cde.cerosmedia.com/over...1G48a94db6ad6e2769.cde

-core temps 0.99.2 is out

Raise the Multi, lower the FSB, and you might need less Vcore for stability at 10 x 430. Lower Vcore will help your temps too.

Some chips have greater leakage currents, thus higher temps. Thats just the way things are. I have a pair of E2140s, they overclock to 3.2 fine, but they run damn warm. 89C at load.

4.3 @ 1.344

Just started priming again, it did run 1hr, but I stopped it to use my PC. Temps are now 62C with a Vendetta2 and 1200rpm scythe.

What are everyone's VTT and GTL settings? Wondering if playing with those might let me lower the Vcore a bit. (I'm Currently at default VTT and GTL's)

That is amazing. Great job Ocguy31. You may be changing my mind to go with the E8600 instead of the Quad 9450.

Yeah, that's a slam dunk for me too. I just don't want to bounce around between dual- and quad-cores. My spouse would kill me! The E8600 will be a NIIIICE upgrade from an E6750 when I get around to it. I've already bought a new HSF for it.

That is just unbelievable at stock. I think I'm going to hold out for an E0 stepping (I'm having a hard time finding them so far). I like this because I really don't like jacking up the voltage.

LOL. And video cards, and hard disks, and... it never freakin' stops! That is a GOOD metaphor, though. A haiku:

I'm stable at 430x10 now, 8 hours Prime95 stable. Had to bump up the voltage a tad to 1.37V, with stock GTL settings (VTT = 1.16V). I'm going to try and see if I can drop the voltage a bit as well, maybe down to 1.36V.

I don't know if I want to go any higher, temps are already ~65-67C during my prime run (still hot down south here in Atlanta), and bumping up the voltage more will only increase the heat output. Plus since I run 2560x1600, I am way VC limited anyway, so it doesn't seem worth it.

Perhaps I will try tweaking the GTL's to see if I can get the voltage down a bit, if so, then I would try and up my OC. Anyone think that would help?

It most likely would. You should start your own thread about that, though.

Seriously rocks. Yeah, you might need to give up 100MHz or so to keep the voltages comfortable. I'm getting one in a few days and will be popping that into my rig and seeing if my MicroATX system can pass 4 GHz! 10x400 sounds like no sweat!

Ocguy31 you have a great CPU on your hands. I have the same CPU (batch and pack date) and it does 3.5GHz stable around 1.39v on the Ramapge Extreme. My memory is holding me back but, that is another story.

If you are adventerous and really want to push your proc...check this out.

lol? You could probably get almost 4.5G out of 1.39v.
