Actually, to get really technical... the cavitation, disruption of tissue, blood loss, and shock are what kill people, not the bullet.
Kinda like how a fall from a great height doesn't kill people, nor the sudden stop at the end; rather, it's the body fluids exploding out of the no longer falling and now
very fluid former body which was previously at terminal velocity. Or, alternatively, think of a water balloon being dropped onto a concrete surface. The balloon is the body. The pavement is the bullet. The big puddle and shreds of plastic demonstrate how the baloon was "killed." The fluid being violently exited from the balloon is what causes the "death," the "bullet" is just the agent which makes that occur.
