I want to see what the experts here think...ty for all your help

Just about to buy and build...this is my sixth build...I am going to be tinkering with this for a while, OC'ing, sleeving cables, hardware modding, going to cut and paint the case...ect ect....I am going to use it for mainly gaming and web design...

*few notes, going to use my own tubing for the water cooling, need to get some adapters and things, but basically this is it...going to hook it up to my exsisting network....Also i am going to siwtch to dual core with this, but not till a while until they get faster and software is more compatible after they come out....Memory is only 3200, but i have already have a 3700 256 sick if i feel the need to experiment ;-)

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you all for inspiring my first build a year ago....will post pics when finished

Wow!

I wouldn't get the Gigabyte mobo myself; i'd take either DFIs or MSIs.

And why such a small monitor You are spending a fortune on the rest. Might as well get a 24" widescreen at least

I use a lot of rendering software...the 2gb's is worth it....

Plus it is not a machine just for OC'ing...I need the stock power...OC'ing it would be like a little bonus...I went with the 19 inch becuase anything bigger than that and some of the games i play get messed up

lol Ausm thx for the input m8's

In that case NOT getting dual opterons when you have that kind of budget is foolish.

if you use the reserator to do your cpu and vid cards, especially since you have 2 you'll definitely want to throw a new pump in the mix and for even cooler temperatures a separate radiator.

The K8WE and dual 244s if you don't have that kind of cash.

nahh ive considered long and hard on the dual opterons, and im just not liking it...:-(.....that and im not that familar with server/workstation hardware....plus it doesnt look as cool....lol jp jp (but what are case windows for anyway then)...also i see why u would go with the dual op's...plus my main thing is gaming and i would get no real advantage from them...

Im going to have this for a while so getting the "best" IMO, is what makes me happy lol, i work long and hard all week so i like to treat myself to things like this.....foolish yet real......good to see no one sees any compatilbity issues though.....

Oh and about the zalmon...im going to get that last.....right now im looking into serperate pumps ect and prob just build my onw.thx for the advice....it makes sence....i already have a zalmon and i am very happy with it...so it was actually sorta automatic.....im brand faithful...and gigabye has never given me any problems, same with BFG, WD OCZ, ect....while i have had problems with DFI, i even got a dead mobo from them...and then tried to say i fried it OC'ing it....so while their board is better, id rather not give them my business.....

SLI 6800Us are a waste on a monitor with 1280*1024 resolution. Are 150FPS really nessecery? Also, rendering work will be better suited with dual Opertons, and possibly dual, dual core Opertons once the prices get a little more reasonable. The 4 raptos are a little wasteful also. You would be better off with SCSI drives like Seagate 15K.4s or Maxtor (Quantum) Atlas 15K IIs, than with Raptors for almost $5000. You'd get a lot more bang for your buck like that.

Gaming Performance: 10/10
Rendering Performance: 8/10
Price Performance: -24/10

Damn, IK wish I had that much money, I'm sure I could find a better way to waste it...

Now you just need a couple 2405fpws! WHay don't you go opteron? 252's are very similar to the fx-55, and you could get two of them!

why dont you get a 20inch LCD so that you have 1600*1200 res? Thats a lot better than the 19inch native res.

SLI + 1280x1024 LCD == teh fool

You mean Italy Opterons, when they are actually even available to the public. I can tell you right now that Opteron 280s on the K8WE rock hardcore!

SCSI is the king of performance but defineately not bang for the buck.

The 252s are actually superior.

Hey, where the hell can you get the K8WE board? I can't find it anywhere? :|

They have only shipped out 300 of the S2895A. Really hurting for the S2895U. Expect a large shipment sometime in the next two weeks. I highly suggest waiting for Axent to get them in stock.

w00t, n00b...
those terms are long past their "l337" phase..
that pc is a waste of cash and time,
gigabyte doesn't overclock, I have the gbyte a64 s754 version (3200+ / watercooled) and it doesn't work stable pass 2350mhz (ddr500 ram, so ram isnt an issue)

I also worked hard and spent 5k, but got 2 machines:
2 x 17" samsung LCDs (shared by the 2 pcs)

1 pc (main / work rig)
2800+ a64, s754
Abit KV8 Max3
1gb DDR ram, pc400, pqi (cheap)
2 x 80 GB drives (maxtor, sata) 1 drive for OS/appz, the other drive for project saving + 160 GB samsung IDE / main backup drive
1 x 2.5" drive, secondary backup
Ati 9600pro 128mb ddr
Chieftec dragon, black
generic cooler, tweaked to worked at 1800rpm
silent case...6 months without a blue screen now, main work rig

---
gaming rig:
3200+ a64, s754
1gb kingmax ddr500
80 GB maxtor hdd, sata
coolermaster watercooler (aquagate)
Ati X800XT, 256mb ddr, agp
DVB satellite card,
gbyte s754, nforce3 mobo
--> super stable rig for gaming, 13000 or something if I remember right in 3dmark2k3, 6000 or something in 3dmark2k5
