zalman 7000cu is an awesome cooler, but it's main benefit is the cooling it provides in relation to noise.....personally, I prefer the 7000al-cu because it's alot less heavy and I move my case around alot.... plus it gives you about 90% of the cooling.....you have to be careful moving your case with a 7000cu in it as it's almost twice the maximum weight for the p4 and a64 and over double for the axp....

....did you scrape off all the as2 and use goo gone or something similiar to make sure it was all removed?.....

....I had the same problem with my old Axp setup overheating when I was playing games and shutting off....(thank god asus had cop on their motherboards) and didn't have the problem with the case off....turned out I just needed more heat sink compound......

....if you just started having the problem I'm guessing it's most likely the heat sink compound but with that overclocking level on air, it's very likely your just losing some of the chips overclockability which is fairly common as thugsrook mentioned....

yeah, i dont' move my computer much, otherwise i would have likely gotten a different unit.

So far, so good.. bumped up to 3.55ghz, 1.625vcore. Running the CNPS7000 without the fan controller.

If you are seriously looking into a new case, you may want to look at the Antec P160. 120mm intake and 120mm exhaust.

Here is a Review.

do you have any other memory around to test?

Yes I do....I have a pair of pc4300 Buffalos...They did 515ddr at cas 3 with my previos system....I will see if they can do 5:4 at these speeds....

I have a new chemming case already under the tree and I will be modding it for 120mm intake fans but leaving the 80s in the back and side for exhaust....

I am wondering now about NB temp...Since there is no temp telling me the temp of the NB chipset itself then it could be the issue...I have the new orb style on this IC7 but what would you guys recommend for an alternative to that??? I have heard of zalmann heatsinks but the only NB one I have seen is a big passive cooper one...Will passive be better then active in this case?? I wouldn't think so...

I was just going to ask if you had tried those sticks out yet....

Bad news and Good news....

Bad news....Those 533ddr didn't get to be tested...

At 266fsb w/ 1:1 W/ CAS 3,8,4,4....Crashes at windows splash screen.....

At 258fsb w/ 1:1 w/ cas 3,8,4,4.....crashes trying to run sissoft sandra mem score....

At 292fsb w/ 5:4 w/ cas 3,8,4,4.....beep screams no boot system reset bios....

At 280fsb w/ 5:4 w/ cas 3,8,4,4.....beep scream no boot

At 292fsb w/ 3:2 w/ cas 3,8,4,4.....beep screams no boot

Basically they are totally useless on any system run a 255+fsb no matter ratio., likly why they became useless on my 2.6c around the same point...Bottom line IC7 appears to be a no go with these chips. Vdimm not an issue either...

Good news if there is any is the fact I think this is a obviously related to the IC7...What mobo hasn't this been tested on??? Asus???

You can get the NB temps via the hardware doctor that comes with the Abit boards. It is one of the three temp readings (can't remember but it is not system or CPU) I believe it was labled PMW. Mine was getting pretty high and was causing stability issues until I replaced the HSF with the ThermalTake Tiger 1 from Newegg.

I thought it was too, but a guy gave a link to a spec sheet that should i fact the PWM is a temp taken somewhere else by the MOSFETS and not the NB...There is no NB temp according to what I have read.

I usually don't like thermaltake products but I will look into it....

NIce...But what needs to be researched is whether this will fit on a NB chipset on a i865/i875 chipset...The IC7 looks iffy it can work with my swiftehc and 92mm fan I have on my cpu....Right now it slightly overlaps (the fan) over the orb style NB chipset I have....I would think the Zalman cu HSF would be an absolute no go with this thing and at least this IC7 mobo...

I will have to do some measuring to be sure....

You are right it won't fit with the Zalman.

But the MicroCool NorthPole is just as good or better but is is much smaller!!

Do a google search on "MicroCool NorthPole" I liked what I saw!

Unless they are finally making the P4 adapter kit available, the NorthPole will not work... (I have one.. ) The fan is pretty loud also...
