I had never made an omellette before and wanted to. After watching a few youtube videos to see some different techniques, I came to the conclusion that I need a less deep pan. I therefore purchased a medium priced pan, took it home, washed it, and immediately proceeded to make my very first omellette.

The omellete was AWESOME, and I want to make another one, BUT after finishing eating I noticed a little bump on the bottom of the pan. Its hard, and feels like hard, dry glue.

Then I noticed the chunk out of my stove top.

Needless to say Im pissed. The photos do not do justice to the chunk, its very obvious.

What can I do?

Looks like its more a problem with the stove than the pan. Ceramic cook tops can be cracked but only if you drop something heavy on them. Might have been a flaw in the cook top.

I have what looks to be the exact same stove. I have cooked with nearly every instrument imaginable on the thing, no issues. You might have a faulty top.

I'm trying to figure out how the hell that happened. It almost looks like a flaw was filled in with some substance, and that melted and stuck to your pan.

ya, thats the confusing part. I've been using this stove for 2 1/2 years now, no problems until the very first time I use this pan. I still blame the pan. Im going to call the 1-800 number to the manufacturer during business hours tomorrow.

Now that we got the serious responses out of the way....

You never made an omelette before? How did you let that happen?

I knoooow! :Craig Furguson; They're friggen awesome. I used to despise the taste of egg when I was a kid, but recently Ive been retrying foods I thought I hated, and finding out that they are fantastic. FOr example, I HATED pineapple, then I had some a couple years ago and BAM! was like, dude, been missing out, my new favorite.

can't you just cook the damn omelette without a pan on that cooktop. Well not now that you fucked it up, but before you fucked it up.

if this is what you want your omellette to look like

no. Too much heat for eggs. Might work for steak. but the ceramic would discolor.

What... like put oil and crack the egg directly on the cooktop like you're cooking on a griddle? I wouldn't think that would work.

lol at the gay pride hotlink. I was staring at it and wondering how an egg could turn rainbow colored.

My mother has a stove like that, and an enamel pan melted(?) on it, and it left a ring on the surface. I'm not terribly impressed with them. I guess it saves cleaning out drip pans, but I've always thought they looked delicate.

It's best to download an image you want to use, then upload it to a picture hosting site. This is the one I use. They compress the image a bit, so it loses quality, but it's fine for web use, and their servers are generally pretty fast...
