My new RAM SUCKS
512 mb pc2700 corsair xms

this stuff sucks bad
i set up aggressive settings and i get BSODs
and corrupted files

anybody have a good recommendatiod for a different brand

Crucial just got in the same module
are they any good?

what speeds are you trying to run?

166mhz with aggressive timings? (the corsair never claimed to run agressive timings at that speed)

most people who use the genuine samsung pc2700 are able to run well over 166mhz with aggressive timings... but still no guarantee because cause its just not rated to run that fast

by the way what voltage are you running the dimms? since the corsair has heatspreaders you can probably run 3.0v without much problem

is it ok to put the setting for ram at 166 ? and what are the fastest memorie timings, cas 2 6 t?? somethin somethin

i have no clue about memorie timings !

I never liked the XMS memory. It is REALLY overhyped here! Get a stick of Mushkin's 512MB Hi Perf LEVEL 2 2100 which is on sale today for $179! This stuff will hit 166MHz EASILY with the MOST aggressive timings your mobo will support. As a matter of fact, you should be good up to ~190MHz with your timings maxed out and NO memory voltage adjustments. You want some bad ass memory, there it is.

i got all settings maxed out and the votage at 2.85
seems to be stable ran 3d mark for 6 hours last nite
prolly just needed to burn in longer than i thought
so ill see if it holds up under quake

I agree, mine does 426ddr easily at 2.6v (default), that's horrible, I'm thinking of going with some Kingston PC2100....
