My niece's father wants to take custody away from my sister because........

I guess this is what my sister gets for having a child with a family of ignorant, backwoods hicks - but it still doesn't justify their position. My sister's old boyfriend is fighting for custody of their child - my sister has lived with me for the past 5 months, and has primary custody of the child.

She was legally served today with papers regarding custody, and one of the main reasons listed for having the child taken from her was because:
"The child has been subjected to homosexual relationships when the mother lived with her brother and his significant other".

I just don't understand how they can take this position, considering my sister is assigned to a social worker, who has been to my house, interviewed my boyfriend and I, and has verified that the child is not in any danger, and that our house is a safe place for the child.

I can't wait to go to court and watch these people make fools out of themselves.

Edit - the father lost his bid for primary custody - and the Judge saw through this crap Hooray

I have a friend who is a member of the ACLU - he gave me some information today on who to contact if my sister were to loose the case solely because of the gay issue. I am confident she won't, because to any sane person, it's painfully obvious the father is grasping at straws in this petition.

But you're right - you just never know, that's why I'm keeping other avenues open.
