My overclocked 3500+

multiplier set to 11, htt at 5x
External clock is set at 225

Abit A8V-Third Eye (Bios 15)
eVGA 6800GT OCd @ core: 408 mem: 1.1GHz
Corsair XMS pc3200 @ 2-3-3-8 1T
Coolermaster Wavemaster Black (its 1337)
Dell UltraSharp 18" LCD flat panel monitor
Altec Lansing 4.1 speakers
Ratzpadz GS with an MX510
Aspire 520 watt PSU

I just updated my bios, and I havent tried much higher, but I need to know about a better cooling unit for my CPU. Ill take any reccomendations, because my CPU on stock is running HOT. 40-45c idle/normal desktop use, and under full Doom 3 load it can get around 60c. Im using arctic Silver 5, and stock HSF.
Also, I was wondering what I can do to help my overclock such as timings on my ram, voltage, etc.
My voltages are on the default for my board. Thanks guys.

If you are running at 4.7Ghz, I would imagine heat problems. Intel is stuck at 4Ghz right now due to heating issues, there lateast one was like 3.6Ghz or 2.8Ghz, that's why Dual Core's are getting attention so they can get more performance out of what they can allow without too much heat.

1. It's reading your processor speed wrong. You aren't running 4.7ghz obviously.
2. Sounds like either your memory controller, memory, or pci was running too far out of spec and you corrupted your hard drive. You could try a windows repair. But Id recommend you get another hard drive, instal windows, transfer the data you need, then format. That's the easiest way.

yes, i knew it was reading it wrong, and now the AGP ratio is locked with the new bios, but other than that, any tips on how to tweak it more?

Have you raised the cpu voltage some to like 1.55 or so? Also you will get a better overclock if you lower the HTT to 4 so that when you get up near 250 (FSB for lack of a better term) you are still within the 1000DDR HTT spec

i am just wondering since im idling stock settings @ 43c if i should just wait for a new HSF, or do you guys think my mb is reading the heat wrong. Thanks for the tip though, ill be sure to try it

43C on stock cooling at idle sounds good to me on the 3500+

That's around what I'm getting right now at idle. Replace the stock cooler ASAP if you want to overclock further.
