Dammit. All kids need a BMW 3 series to roll to school. What's up with parents nowadays?

A 3 Series?!?!?!? Those are cheapos, OMG I can't believe you expect us to drive those!

I had to buy every car I've owned, even the one the ex took from me and wrecked.

due to us being poor now and cars getting more expensive i guess we're getting cheaper cars.

my first car...(got it in 94 iirc)

1970 Plymouth Belvedere $200, ended up with about $1200 in repairs over the next 2 years...all paid by me working at a thing called a "Job"...not by my "allowance" that I got for sitting around.

1989 Toyota Tercel (around '98)-My Grandma saved money, and gave me $1K when we get out on our own to "help us out" with a house or car if needed. This car had a big dent, but ran great. I paid half with her money, half with mine. Other half of her money sent my wife to beauty school. Drove that car until about 2002

1993 Chevrolet K1500 pickup ('99)
Worked my butt off, and got my first loan (paid half down in cash...working long hard hours on road construction)

it goes on from there, but the theme is the same. You don't NEED a new, nice car, nor do you DESERVE one...if you get a car from your parents (I never have, half that Tercel from Grandparents is the closest I came). As it is now, I drive older cars, that might have some body damage/minor repairs required sometimes, but they are PAID FOR (except our minivan).

Get a freaking clue and a job. Your parents obligation ends at maybe a bus pass...anything above and beyond is being nice and you are a whiner.

I really hate threads like this.
You're an idiot, parents have no respect for kids anymore, they forgot what it's like to be a kid. My friends all drive nicer cars, why should I be stuck in a corrolla?

because you are not paying for it?

loser
As children, we have people who look at us. Friends look at our cars. When he goes tailgating at a football game and a crowd of people is around someone else's car, that'll just make his look that much less worthless. Do you have any idea what this will do to his social standing? AFAIK, there's a full list being kept now, based on many factors such as hair style, clothing, and now cars. You've gotta keep a good appearance to maintain that social standing, it's not easy, competition is harder than ever with all the asian folk coming in with their big expensive cars.

I for one, support the OP in his battle against his unwilling parents, they've clearly forgotten just how hard the life of a HS'er is.

OP: Stand up for your rights, this is your time to shine.

It's responses like this that make this thread comedy gold.

I remember High School pretty well because I graduated in 2003. I had to share a camry with my twin sister. We didn't get the car till our senior year in High School anyways. I can just picture who these people would be High School. God, if I saw them now I would probably be rolling on the floor laughing.

Of course I didn't have to worry about loosing friends over my car. I had a solid group of buddys who I still keep in contact with (in fact we are going to Vegas in June fvck yeah!).

This thread is awesome.
Everybody here knows I'm kidding, right?

I've gotten 2 PM's if I was serious - just for the record, it's a joke on the OP, how can he complain about this

I feel like the most hated person on AT lol...I had no idea this many people would care lol.

Okay, I get the point, and I guess I am being a whiny asshole.

And I guess I'm mostly pissed about the fact that my siblings got nicer cars than this, and that I just don't really care for the Corolla (but I will take anything I get, and I wont complain (thanks AT!)); they should've gotten at least a Yaris or something. I'm a freshman in college btw.

SORRY!

Between this and the drinking thread, it freaks me out as to the future of humanity.

My first car was an '84 Toyota Cressida, for which I got a $1400 loan from my dad for. I was grateful he did not charge me interest. Sh!t, I am only 24 yrs old. Are kids really this bad already?

I know this forum is geared more towards spoiled whiny brats, but it seems like us that actually had a remotely difficult life (to say nothing of someone that have to wonder where their next meal is coming from) are chiming in pretty good.

OP: I am sure that I can say nothing more that has already been said, but did you actually expect sympathy here? I know it seems like this place is filled with self-entitled jackasses, but there are still normal people here too...

God your parents are just a-holes. You should at LEAST get a Ferrari and an episode of "My Sweet 16."

OP, I feel you. Screw the Proletariat.

How was your Christmas by the way; did Santa get you an ebayed Playstation 3 and XBox 360 or were you stuck with coal again?

Maybe a Civic in the similar price range? Will you that like that better? Talk to them for the Civic coupe, which is nice.

Take the car you don't want, then crash it on purpose. Then they'll have to get you a new car!

This is how all your school mates have Z4s, 350Zs and G35s. They all had crummy beaters, but there are ways to scam your 'rents.

Yaknow, maybe it's just because I'm in a bad mood right now, but I freakin' hate today's whiny spoiled brats. My parents didn't even buy me a car EVER. I bought my first car myself when I was 17 years old, a 15 year-old salvage title Datsun beater, with money I made flipping burgers at the local A&W after school.

You whiny emo spoiled brats make me sick with your WAAH MY RICH DADDY DIDN'T BUY ME A BMW LIKE I WANTED bullsh!t.

I had to wait until I was out of college with a job before I was able to have a Corolla and drive.
Parents financed none of my car expenses and without a regular job I couldn't either.

Thankfully and rightfully so!

I personally dont understand it. I'm sure most of us have been disappointed at some point in our lives because we didnt get what we wanted. OP just came out and said it. Its not like he said he hates his parents or anything along those lines. And the OP is what? 16? having a "cool car" is everything at that age. Although I wouldnt be disappointed myself (since I didnt have a car until 20), its not too hard to see where he is coming from.

If I had the resources, I would take my kid to whatever dealership he wanted and have him or her pick out the exact car he or she wanted. You know why? Because my parents weren't able to that for me. Instead, they supported me through college and law school so I can give even more to my kids.

Wrong...when you are 16, any car was cool (when you were 15, you were like "I wouldn't drive that piece of crap....)
