But I'm unable to convince them of otherwise, so, did you go through highschool with out pulling an all-nighter? Did you have to study weeknights and weekends to achieve good grades in your classes?

High school was a goddam joke. You're not fit for society if you struggle through it. Go to Somilia if you're failing HS.

no, no and no.

I could have gotten higher grades if I did. I got As and Bs. Some Cs in college, though, kinda over did it one year with course load.

you should never have to pull an all nighter if you stay on top of things and manage your time correctly.

I got through high school without taking a book home. Ever. I managed to pull off a low B average (like 2.9ish) without ever doing a shred of homework outside of class.

You must have done homework, otherwise you wouldn't have a 4.0. Unless you went to a school where grades are determined completely by test scores, there's no way you can pull off a 4.0 without studying outside of class.

I got As on most tests, which was the only thing that propped my grades at 2.9. They were dragged down to a low B average by rarely turning in completed homework.

Well I dropped out of university so maybe you want to take this with a grain of salt but it was due to emotional problems not poor grades. In high school I really only studied for large test and final exams at the end of the year and even then not very hard, never pulled all nighters. In university I did have to study harder because of the volume of information you have to retain but even then I didn't pull any all nighters. I have to admit though I could have done with better study habits even though my grades were usually good, would have reduced the stress.

I studied a small amount in high school, the AP classes weren't that easy. In college, engineering classes sometimes kicked my ass with homework and tests, but I managed to finish EE Magna Cum Laude with a 3.7 GPA. Competition wasn't really that fierce though, most people didn't put in as much work as I did, so it was fairly easy to be in the top 30% of the class and snag an A. All classes outside of engineering were a total joke, straight A's in all of those without really studying. Thats not to say I ever passed up a party or social activity for studying, I just didn't waste a lot of time watching TV and stuff. Now I'm in a top 5 grad school in EE, competition is real tough, I'm hoping not to fail one class..

no matter how naturally intelligent you are, there are classes you can take that will force you to study. even an idiot can take the most basic classes and pass without ever studying and still get all A's. if you are putting a lot of effort into your academics and aren't getting the results you want, you should reevaluate the classes you're taking and the way you take them. some classes might just straight up be too hard for you, or you might need outside assistance like tutors or frequently going to get help from teachers outside of class.

I never studied in HS and did just enough homework to not slip below the cutoff for an A. In college I almost never do homework and skip class a lot more often, and as a consequence I have to study for certain classes. I usually pull all-nighters writing even short papers, but it's because I don't start them until 4 or 5 AM.

Here's how I see it: if you're attending class, paying attention, and doing the homework, then you're already studying. Some people retain information better than others. Some have to review it before the exam. To say that you never study and receive straight A's seems unlikely.

If you don't ever attend the class, never do the homework, never open the book, and still receive an "A", then you either didn't need to take the class, or the class is totally worthless.

I don't study for college. GPA is a 3.2. I have pulled an all nighter finishing 3 papers though.

It specifically asks in the OP whether people replying studied on weeknights and weekends.

I never studied in high school, got straight As and a full-ride scholarship to a state university

I have to study in college fairly regularly. You'll have to study in college too if you want to get your BS in anything that isn't a joke. Obviously if you're getting your business degree you shouldn't need to study much.

I slept through my classes & couldn't wait to get home, where I would subsequently fall right asleep. I had visious cycle of mono through my last years, & never had time to study. I joined a study group on Saturday mornings, & I slept the moment my ass hit the seat. The teacher told me right to my face that she thought I was on drugs. I failed nearly everything towards the end.

1. Go to class.
2. Take good notes.
3. Review notes the morning before test.
4. Win.

I did all of my homework for my next class of the day during the class I was in... so I never took anything home. Then in college I spent about 50 hours a week at least playing counterstrike, and I still got my BA with a 3.0GPA. I hardly studied for CRAP, and never really pulled an all nighter, I spent one or two nights up late reading but thats about it.
