Get 2 GB (2x1GB) of Corsair Value. I've been perfectly happy with all the Corsair Value I've got. 1 GB Value in 'Gaming Rig' below concurrently with PQI TCCD 1 GB, and 512 MB in my old P4 PC. None of the Corsair Value memory sticks have ever been defective for me (nor has the PQI TCCD). The Value is just as fast as the TCCD chips at DDR400, at least within 5% only due to the timings. Right now I have a 4x512 configuration, but I recommend you go 2x1GB simply so you don't have to use 2T/DDR333. Not that 2T/DDR333 hardly makes a dent either though. You will have more slots left if you do 2x1GB.

The 7800GT is great. I have an eVGA 7800GT N515-AX, and I love it. 'AX' means great warranty I think. I picked mine up for $284 after rebate at newegg.

For the mobo, get an nForce4 one. Not sure which specifically is the best value at this point. I'm happy with my A8N-SLI Deluxe but it does have a couple problems.

The Seagate 250GB is an excellent value.

NEC DVD burner is fine, I love my HP dvd burner 420i too.

CPU (X2 3800+) is the best choice I've seen in the whole list, as good as the 7800GT.

As for LCDs, I'll recommend you those in my LCD Buyer's Guide thread and continue discussion about them there.

ok so here are the new parts I've picked:

Seagate 250GB

19in LCD viewsonic

7800GT<--Even though this card doesn't end in AX does it still have the lifetime warranty...?

Case... Centurion 5<--Cheap, but I've heard that its not that big... and kinda loud...?

Antec SLK3000B<-- Pretty plain case... I'm not sure about it...

aspire x dreamer II<-- Was my first pick but then I saw some bad reviews....

Thermaltake Xaser V damier V5000+<--40 dollar mail in rebate looks good.... but wouldn't all those fans be loud...? Also people on the reviews are saying that first time builders should stay away........

------Help? Suggestions? Comments? All are appreciated!

harobikes, buy the N516 version of the 7800GT. It is the best performance/value combonation and it has the copper heatsink. I got mine from Mwave and it came 470/1200 stock :Q.

Corsair value select 2x1GB<--180+5 S&H

7800GT<--300+5 S&H

3800 X2<--322, free shipping

Seasonic 500W<-- 106+12 S&H

Mobo=100+ bucks

Case=depends....about 100 bucks

Total: $1393.50+mobo +case

I'm looking at spending 1600 right now....

I'm going to have to try and get the parts at other places other than newegg since they rip you off on S&H on alot of stuff and also aren't always the cheapest.

Looked up the parts I've chosen so far and here are the two parts that were cheaper else where:

the ram
and the LCD

Any comments, help, suggestions!!!!???? I need them

Doesn't have the good warranty though. Unless I'm wrong 'AX' meant good warranty. I thought they let you overclock it and only physical damage was against the warranty. They'd also let you put a heatsink on without voiding I think so potentially you could end up with a better card? Just what I read. Well the 516 does come with Quake 4 though. Somebody will have to clarify this.

EDIT: I called evga to be sure, the tech guy looked up the newegg one and he said after about ten minutes that it does have a lifetime warranty and that all those 7800GT cards should have a lifetime warranty.

P.S. I love quick shot

Hope to get help, suggestions, comments!!! Because I neeeeeeeed them.

I'm off to go to sleep and then get up in the morning and drive to relatives house's and then finally end up at my Grandpa's farm where I'll be spending Christmas.

I hope to order the computer when I get back from Christmas so hope to see lots of replys lol I wish:

Merry Christmas everyone

Neither are the greatest options if you're in California. They are, too, and will charge sales tax. If not, they're great choices.

Unfortunatly, OP already decided on the CU version with a lower clock. But thats a good fall back if u cant afford the CU version. The Epox is very good, check in the Motherboards section to see how many people like these boards. Case as I've mentioned the Cavalier 3 if ur concerned about the noise, and the Centurion if u want it...

OP = Orriginal Poster.

Almost all the current boards are dual core compatible. Pick one you like for the features and then check to see if its' compliant, odds are that it will be. PS the new Asus non SLI board is damn nice looking.

Honestly, any cheap motherboard that is s939 and a nf4 chipset is a good motherboard. Very few motherboards will become dual-core with a BIOS update, and most come out of the box dual core compatible. The cases that I've mentioned already have very quiet fans, and if a very good wiring job is done (unlike me...) u can make it very cool. Any other questions post back here...
