my pc wont play dvd's

i recently formatted my hdd and since then my laptop wont play dvd's. i re instaled all the software and crap like that but mothing, but what is realy worring me is that this is not the first time that i have re formated the hdd and the first time that i did it it played them fine after the formating

any imput or sugestions will be greatfuly appriciated

make sure a dvd decoder is installed. If one is, uninstall it and install it again or get a different one. I use the one off of my driver CD from my old 8500

If you run XP, then WMP will also play DVD's....give it a try.
