I'm Asian and I'm just venting here btw, feel free to ignore me.

Yesterday I was at the Asian market getting green onion. Old Chinese guy in front of me just coughs full blast into the produce....naturally I pick the ones bury in the very bottom. Seriously, I don't see white people or any other minorities doing it...just Chinese(Yes I am Chinese) who thinks it's okay to not cover you mouth while coughing and it's okay to unload into food other people share.

Yesterday I was also at the gym. There are no cell phone signs everywhere. I was on the treadmill and moments later an older Indonesian lady gets on the threadmill next to me and commences her very loud and nonstop phone conversation for the next 10000 miles. It's almost as if she's trying to draw attention to herself. The other guy next to her just keeps looking at her and was visibly very annoyed.

Not to mention my old Vietnamese co-worker who I saw clipping his finger nails at work dropping em straight into the ground.

I just hope other people don't view my race as a bunch of no manner hillbillies..thank God we're so good at math...and naturally good looking.

What's up with spitting? I see this with older Chinese men especially.

I'm not familiar with bad Asian habits, but I don't have a big problem with nail clippings on the floor. I try to get them in the trash, but I don't put a huge amount of effort into it. If one gets away, I don't kill myself looking for it.

a lot of asians are rude. they have no sense of patience. once someone behind me in line cut in front and put their stuff ahead of mine and tried to wave the money to the cashier. i just picked their stuff up and put it back behind me.

Do you clip your fingernails at work? Personally, that seems more like a grooming task that should remain in the home.

Sometimes, especially if a nail gets a hook in it. If I'm fixing one, I might as well do the rest.

I stopped at "I'm Asian" . And since I feel racial stereotyping is no longer cool, I will stop here. *rips out keyboard*

This thread has caused me great personal frustration and angst as I have had to suppress so many truly awesome responses that my fingernails are weeping blood.

I actually like all the Chinese people I know, but I think I love this woman even more. And yeah, Japanese people are know for their uber-politeness too. I actually made a thread about them a little while ago, this one Japanese woman who would walk around the building and pick up other people's trash before starting work and before leaving for the day.

<self-censored to avoid another infraction for racism> men are my bane (the women are nice).

You saw all the old generation asians. What about the ones that grew up here that don't do that?

I see blacks mexicans spit all the time. WTF?

I had a mexican sweat into my food while he was making my burrito, no joke. I had to ask for a new one or go to chipotle.

in my area you see mainlanders in grocery stores digging roughly through produce, tossing around ones they don't want, and damaging stuff for everyone else.

oh, and cutting in line for samples at costco, and taking multiples/the rest of the tray for their family.

cultural differences.

Common courtesy and common sense aren't global. If you want to fix it, get a time machine and instill these practices a few generations back, and we should be good.

It's not just Asians. I flew into France a few years ago, got to the train that was going to take me to the city. Stood a respectable distance from the edge of the platform to give people room to get off, and I had a few natives swoop into that gap. As an American, I was pretty surprised. But we weren't in America any more.
