My Predicament

Finally decided to go with an Athlon based system and in rebuilding I came to the decision of what mobo to go with.

Decided on either the Abit KT7 or the MSI KT7Pro2A...

Heard bad things about them both however...

about how the Abit only likes certain RAM
and about how the MSI's onboard sound gives havoc to the other soundcard while in game

This rig will be mostly used for gaming and I don't really feel like hearing schreeching but then again everyone on this forum is rather partial to MSI's Pro2A...

Can anyone sift through the rumors and tell me if either of those are true?

I have the MSI K7TPro2-a and unfortunately I am also one that has problems with the sounds. It is extrememly annoying! You might want to consider the Epox 8kta+ or whatever the newest revision of it is. Not many people have this board, but it is cheaper than the MSI, Abit, and ASUS and I haven't heard very many bad things about it yet. I considered it heavily before buying getting talked into the MSI board myself.
