I get to dance on your DFI then set it ablaze if I get my MSI to run this chip at 500fsb right?

Heh, still testing here, can run 3.6 and pass cpu tests but get mem errors, gotta get the darn vtt figured out. Funny thing is I get no memtest errors in Dos, but do in windows... sheesh! I have no probs booting and running it tho but have not tried higher yet.

Larry

ps.. Offer stands... LOL!

Yeah it is Been back at mine doing some testing with Prime95 Torture Blend. Got it 1 hour at 3600 so far with 1.32v Load and 1.32v VTT.. So far so good. Almost wish I had a board that handled GTL's automatically/ "Almost".

Just wait another 10 years or so. You'll no longer be complaining about lack of time; you'll be complaining about lack of funds. Ever hear about how much more expensive it is to raise female children (around 50% more)? They aren't bad at all, until ~13, then you'll be forever broke, no matter how much you're making. My daughter is 14, BTW, so I'm speaking from personal experience.

I already do video editing on my rig. I notice ZERO difference between the C2Q and the C2D. Takes nearly the same time to crunch through, generate and burn to disk as it did before.

That's only because you have a single, slow hard drive, assuming your sig is still correct. Get a couple of fast drives, and you'll see a definite difference.

I've upgraded enough parts in this rig because of the quad. I'm not buying any more parts just to satisfy the quads diet for $.

Bad Flash. It isn't actually Dead, but out of commision until I get a new bios.I really do not know why, I used the usb to flash it, no write fails, etc. Just got an endless boot loop with no Hex Code/led.

Tried the trick of popping the bios chip out and repeated boots, but nadda. Just my luck, but oh well, I should have a new bios chip by mid week if the guy gets back to me soon.

Got the Asus installed today, kinda different board, hard to get used to for me. The Bios chip for the DFI still has not shown yet.

Anyhow, gotta get used to clocking this thing, prob be a long weekend, tho I did manage 3200 so far with 1.208v cpu voltage Load. Better than I could on the DFI so far, however gotta find the max clock at normal volts then mess with the ram timings Big time.

So is this chip (Q9400) easier to overclock/clock higher than the Q9450 due to half the cache?

I'm trying to decide which one to buy...

I have no Q9450 to compare to but i'll say ANY quad is a pain to overclock unless you really like tweaking settings until you are blue faced.
