yea craiglist selling is schizo.

because of condo bylaws change, i had to get rid of a washing machine and a dryer from the second floor unit ASAP, posted it on craigslist for $50, most buyer's responses were whether both works or just a ploy to have free movers....even after listing as free for pickup still took an eventual 9:30pm rush for "is it still availabe?, i'll be right there" with whole thing finally wrapped up around 11pm

Yah, it didn't work. Highest offers I got were at $200 for the TV.... which I rather donate it and get more back off my taxes for that price Which is basically a better decision to make if I have to sell for that low.
I'm not sure you understand how tax write-offs work, unless you're in the 50% tax bracket or something.

you guys can't read. My third response .."it has integrated video and audio"

Which followed your second response of "You must be new at this. Building PCs and replacing motherboards does take some knowledge. Just google the model to get a view of the I/O area where all of the hookups are. "

Op is clearly being a bit of a dick, but dealing with craiglisters, it's almost necessary.

"Hi, I see you have this nearly new tablet for 500. But another guy has this one he's used regularly for 2 years for 450. So, would you take 400 for yours?"

Wait what? My item is nearly new, and you want to pay me less for it than the one being sold with scuff marks, screen scratches, etc? No thanks.

My general rule of thumb is to try to get a bit under amazon used pricing on whatever I'm selling. Sometimes it takes a bit longer to get the amount out of it I want, but whatever. Just blows my mind that I post something and after a little back and forth they want to give me 75% or less of what I asked for by comparing it to another similar item thats far more used.

IMO I think you provoked the buyer with your judgement of his PC building skills. I can see your point where he should have googled it, but do you want to sell this motherboard or not? I know it is craigslist but if you want to move an item a little bit of finesse and customer service is needed.

Maybe the guy is a moron when it comes to building PCs. But if so, then so what?? Sell him the motherboard and move on. If and when he blows it up that is his f'in problem. You had a guy who was going to potentially buy the board from you and your snarky attitude put him off. Like the buyer said: Its bad for business

It was pretty clear he wanted to know if it had on-board audio/video from his very first message. The only part in question was why he attached "drivers" to the end of his sentence.

Maybe OP was a little grumpy but really, how many recent (in the last 10 years) motherboards DO NOT have built in audio, none unless your buying an uber-high end one and they expect you to use an external sound card. Same with on-board video, since 90+% of computers are not for gaming the on-board video is there and is fine for web browsing and email and such.

OP is definitely a dick. What's worse is that he's stubbornly and pointlessly defending his pride, so he's an idiot as well.

My motherboard doesn't have on board video.

And the conversation appears states that it is an odd-ball motherboard...

Or at the very least, not go out of your way to offend them. I think teaching the prospective buyer a couple of lessons was slightly more important to the seller for whatever reason, the back & forth questioning what he knows & google-scolding took more time than just telling him the answer, and probably less effective than had he replied with "IDK" even.

Then he might have been motivated to google it himself.

My experience is that craigslist is just full of resellers selling shit they bought from someone else the day before for half the price, and if you try to sell something yourself at a reasonable deal, all you get are 20 resellers trying to be the first to steal it from you no matter how low your price is, so they can repost it before they even get back in their car.

Bought and sold a few things but damn you have to cut through all the reseller spam both buying and selling.

Like people trying to cash in on the retro game collecting craze who have each game priced individually and who have been reposting the same ad every weekend for a year or more and havent sold a single game. And they have 3 paragraphs about how the price is firm, how they won't sell it as a lot, how they will squat on it as long as it takes, etc. It's hilarious. There is another one that has been there all year long, a Gameboy and 6 crappy games (sports and movie license garbage that is worth $0) that keeps getting reposted over and over again. GET. A. CLUE.

People who know about those things and seek them out don't go to craigslist to pay ebay/retail prices dumbass, and if they do they know youre not subtracting ebay\paypal fees and shipping costs. If I'm going to pay ebay prices, I'll cherry pick the best one that is complete in box from hundreds... on ebay, imagine that, and have it delivered to my air conditioned home. Not waste gas and treadwear driving around town for your scratched up piece of crap.

This sounds like a paraphrase of some other CL meme.

Either way the OP went above and beyond defending themselves, yet could not just take the time to include the motherboard link to the buyer.

I have a relative that does this. He makes big bucks on the stupidest things. He bought 1000 chickens for $1 a piece and sold them the same day for $3 each. Another day it was a pickup truck for $400 that sold for $3000. However; he got shut down on the vehicle thing unless he gets a license.

Normal scam on flipping cars is to immediately list it for sale after you buy it and never sign the pink or register it in your name. This is all the guys who are selling cars for uncle, neighbor, friend at work, or say nothing and claim clear title and pink in hand. Some flippers never even buy the car before trying to sell it. Like if you know an elderly person about to trade in a lo mile car, offer them some cash over the dealer trade in price, list the car for sale and once you have a buyer pay the owner and get the pink.

Google is nice, but lots of times inconvenient for people who work. Nothing gained by being an ass.

NOTHING has some magic fixed value it will sell for. Things sell stupid high and stupid low, and no point in trying educate a seller on how little what you want to buy is worth.

I believe that. I did the books for a lady in town that would buy a ton of shit from auctions/garage sales. She was making like 10k a month. it was fucking insane.

i started doing it after she died but the amount of work it took to make pidly amount i was making was not worth it.

When she died they went into her "store" (just a big storage unit) and it was crammed full of stuff.

Add me to the list of posters who think the OP is a dick.

Bet this thread didn't go exactly as he planned.

letting them into your car or you into theirs is a very bad idea. Maybe create a one time remote program and let them remote into it before they buy it.

Or bring a charged UPS with you, if you have one. You can use that to power whatever you need at your neutral, public meeting place. Last item I sold, I met the buyer at an outdoor table at my local coffee shop. Worked great.

I would like to buy the motherboard off of you. I am fine with the price, plus I will pay you $2000 more for your troubles. I just need the item shipped to my one and only adopted half blind son who lives in Zimbabwe. Please post your PayPal address on here, and leave your password also.
