Or bring a charged UPS with you, if you have one. You can use that to power whatever you need at your neutral, public meeting place. Last item I sold, I met the buyer at an outdoor table at my local coffee shop. Worked great.

That actually works? Never thought of that, how long do you get on battery time?

What model UPS do you have?

My motherboard doesn't have on board video.

And the conversation appears states that it is an odd-ball motherboard...

Fair enough, some don't but the buyer could have googled the model# of the board and knew the specs on it in less than a minute..

Way to teach him your time is too precious to deal with people who can't use Google by sending multiple e-mails back and forth with him to tell him he doesn't know how to use Google.

Jesus, just tell him what ports it has and move on with life. Would have been my first response to him.

I hate Craigslist. It's pathetically built by technical idiots. Its clients are also substantially humanity's worst people, just the worst hustling no good scum of the earth.

I still use Craigslist for certain items. This is because no other site has the traffic, and unfortunately Craigslist simply by being first has become top dog. It's like a new social media site: it could be better than facebook in all ways but it will probably fail because only when it has customers is it worth anything, but customers won't come unless people are already there.

Craigslist is an excellent example of how being first lets you get to the top even if your product sucks shit. It was only within the last year they even had proxy email addresses when contacting a buyer. Expired ads still delete images, so you need to recreate the image if you post an old ad after a certain time. Also, if you take a day old ad and repost it so it gets to top of list the site says you can't because it's like one you already have, so the way around that is to just delete your other one, and then can scam the stupid site and post your new and get back to the top again, basically ensuring your ad always stays at the top. This is just a few of the ways it's setup badly.

-----

Of course, the real problem are the scum, the filthy, the absolutely shit of humanity who use craigslist. I'm selling an xbox with a bunch of crap right now for $120 or something. Got an email yesterday from some idiot offering "$60 NOW". This is common, just idiotic low ball offers that only somebody desperate to buy a hit of meth would take. And then we've got other people selling their xboxes at 80% of what they paid retail a year ago despite them now basically worthless. They are overpriced by a factor of 2X. Then there are the people who email asking if something is still available, you say yes, never hear back. This is most people.

Craigslist really needs a rating system of buyers. This would increase comfort level (a lot of people are still scared of meeting CL people IRL at their home), and also it would cut down the spam emails--which we still fucking get. Seriously, how is craigslist still allowing these?

-----

Anything heavy or large I generally do on CL, like for example a trailer hitch. Something small and easily shipped goes on amazon or ebay. It's the only way to ensure strong traffic and not get dicked around by the destitute downtrodden masses of stupid on CL.

I actually had a guy this week write me a check for $2k over what I listed my Xbox 360 at. He apologized profusely, and even let me split the overage with him, so I only gave him back $1k!

What a dope that moron is.

1) Write bad check for excess amount to stupid seller on CL?
2) Ask him to give back only half of that amount in cash?
3) Profit!

wow, people from CL are strange. I am selling a gas leaf blower. The guy comes today, checks it out and hands me the money. As I am counting (its $10 less than what I wanted) the guy is halfway to his car. He then turns around and says hey its leaking gas. I told him that I spilled some gas when I filled it up. I told him he could check it again. He says no and wants his money back. I hand over the cash and tell him it was $10 less...and he acts all shocked. Loser

Surprised you sell anything with an attitude like that.

OP sounds like an asshole.

I agree with the asshole crowd. Then again I'm an asshole too so I'm not judging.

He said he made a mistake then said he still wanted it, but you continued to berate him.

a simple " Yes onboard audio and onboard video. HDMI, DVI VGA etc. DICK!

Why didn't you just answer his question instead of being a dickwad about it?

Add me to the list of posters who think the OP is a dick.

Bet this thread didn't go exactly as he planned.

Way to teach him your time is too precious to deal with people who can't use Google by sending multiple e-mails back and forth with him to tell him he doesn't know how to use Google.

OP is an asshole.

It boggles my mind why people still consider selling on Craigslist. So in a way, OP was asking for it.

You sound like a patronizing dick

I was going to go with condescending shithead, but yours sounds good too.

Seriously, OP - nobody is impressed with your vastly superior knowledge of drivers, chipsets, or whatever the fuck it was you were talking down to this guy about.

mispelling != ignorance

Sorry, not buying your BS. Bona fide is two fucking words, which you didn't know.

No big deal in the larger scheme of things, except when you're pontificating on the ignorance of someone else. Then, it's your ironic ignorance for the lulz.

bwhahaha Halik's post summed up the thread.

It's true.
I've sold a ton of stuff over the years on CL from classic gaming stuff to other electronics, a car, etc and had one no-show the entire time.
You have to know who to ignore, you have to be willing to answer stupid questions without going into a nerd rage, and you have to be willing to deal.
People complain about being "lowballed" but I can't count the number of times people accept. You have to gauge their desire to sell.

One of my best buys: (2) Klipsch RF-82 IIs, matching center (RC-62 II) and a RW-12D for $250.

Sold the sub for $200 (already had a Paradigm PW-2200) and kept the rest.

Craigslist is awesome if you know how to use it, but a hellhole for those who don't.

That actually works? Never thought of that, how long do you get on battery time?

Sure does -- works like a champ! My homebuilt Ivy Bridge tower and 24" LCD are, according to the UPS, pulling about 75W doing light tasks like responding to this post. I unplugged it a few minutes ago, and it's saying I have 55 minutes of estimated runtime remaining.

If I do something slightly more involved like watching a YouTube video, it goes up to 115W and shows about 45 minutes remaining. If I fire up a good game or something, the draw obviously goes way up and the runtime is about 20-25 minutes.

What model UPS do you have?
It's a CyberPower 1350AVR that I picked up from Costco a few months ago for $95. Works like a champ, with a nice big battery in it. (Probably way more battery than I need, but it was the same price as much smaller ones at other stores.)
