wow, people from CL are strange. I am selling a gas leaf blower. The guy comes today, checks it out and hands me the money. As I am counting (its $10 less than what I wanted) the guy is halfway to his car. He then turns around and says hey its leaking gas. I told him that I spilled some gas when I filled it up. I told him he could check it again. He says no and wants his money back. I hand over the cash and tell him it was $10 less...and he acts all shocked. Loser

But did the guy have your rent check?

Sure does -- works like a champ! My homebuilt Ivy Bridge tower and 24" LCD are, according to the UPS, pulling about 75W doing light tasks like responding to this post. I unplugged it a few minutes ago, and it's saying I have 55 minutes of estimated runtime remaining.

If I do something slightly more involved like watching a YouTube video, it goes up to 115W and shows about 45 minutes remaining. If I fire up a good game or something, the draw obviously goes way up and the runtime is about 20-25 minutes.

Thanks for the info, 45 mins or so is plenty of time to boot it up, test it out then turn off PC.

It's a CyberPower 1350AVR that I picked up from Costco a few months ago for $95. Works like a champ, with a nice big battery in it. (Probably way more battery than I need, but it was the same price as much smaller ones at other stores.)

That's actually the model I've been considering, thanks again for the info!

Yeah OP's a bit of a dick, so what? I'm a dick, as are a lot of the people calling OP a dick.

Still, it's easier to say "yeah it has those things" than to do what OP did. I don't tolerate idiots well, but things are different when you're doing business. An ad will attract all types, especially the types you don't want, that's just the nature of it. Stupid people will also continue to be stupid, it's their nature. Trying to educate them like that is just pissing into the wind, so let it go and either find a way to advance the negotiation or just ignore them.

Sorry, not buying your BS. Bona fide is two fucking words, which you didn't know.

No big deal in the larger scheme of things, except when you're pontificating on the ignorance of someone else. Then, it's your ironic ignorance for the lulz.

Or bring a charged UPS with you, if you have one. You can use that to power whatever you need at your neutral, public meeting place. Last item I sold, I met the buyer at an outdoor table at my local coffee shop. Worked great.
The problem with meeting at a neutral place is that a huge proportion of people on craigslist are worthless cretins and so, despite agreeing on a meeting time and place, there's really no guarantee at all that they will show up.

This is why I always tell them they can come to my house and when they don't show it's no harm done. There's little more chance of being robbed/raped/etc. by somebody on craigslist than some random joe blow who comes to my front door with intent to do the same thing. My security cameras pick them up anyway in case things go south, and at the least the footage can be used after my homicide to help catch the perp.

You spelled it wrong, it's CREEPSlist.

Almost all my transactions with people there are weird. Everyone thinks they are from pawnstars too.

Price is $500.. okay I only brought two $20 bills with me though, lets make this work.

I just list stuff at a reasonably low price and add "this is the final price, no negotiations", if you don't have $xxxx don't bother coming over..

But as he said, the cretins think they are on pawnstars or some accomplished negotiator, so they will always ask for lower. I will say there is some nice pleasure in telling people to pound sand after they make an offer despite the listing clearly saying price is firm. People are stupid, though; they would rather pay $100 for something that was listed at $150 than $90 for something with a firm price. Their tiny minds are not content unless they "got money off".

I've sold tons of stuff on CL in GA, SC, MA among other places, and once you weed out the obvious scammers, idiots, etc., the sales generally go very well. I've even had people over to my house (hard to sell a car otherwise, sometimes) and have never feared them coming back to rob me....guess my 4 dogs dissuades that impulse.

Guess I'm just lucky or something but I've made a fair bit of money off CL. True, the weeding out process does suck sometimes, but an easy way is call what I'm selling "the item"....instant trash, just after I flag the message as a scam. Never hear back from them after I do that. Guess CL does kill their email address when it gets flagged enough. Works for us, anyway.

I'd never be able to sell the volume of stuff I do sell without CL.

I just use a good power inverter (1150w IIRC) but basically the same idea.

For little more than 2x the price an IBM 1500TL/2130R5X can be found http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

This is a APC Smart UPS 1500 with IBM cosmetics. I personally think the newer LCD versions are not as good as the old.
