This movie was fantastic. I'm not saying there wasn't its dry, soporfic parts, but I think that's a side effect of the realistic quality of the movie. Life isn't all guns and roses, we do have our dull moments in life.
As the movie approached it's end, the only thing that kind of bugged me was this:
Sci-fi normally takes me to the outer worlds of my imagination, as far away from this reality as possible. But as the Dune universe started to reveal itself, it began to feel too much like reality. No digital effects can obscure the earthly aspects of the movie - politics, society, war, etc.
But that's just a thorn. Overall the movie was superb.
BTW, this movie is 270 minutes. I watched it in one sitting, but I suggest you take a break. =D
