Alright! I combined these ideas into ONE!

I set the thermostat to 72. Then, I took apart the assembly and super glued the variable resistor (temperature control) to its current position. Then, I clipped off the stem on the plastic dial, turned it a few degrees, then super glued it back on. Once everything was assembled again, the dial falls into place at what looks like 65 degrees, but the resistor is actually "set" for 72 degrees. Even better, if they try to set it to a different temperature, it just snaps back to "65", which is actually 72.

Thank you ATOT, you have given me ideas to pwn my room mates. Aside from the thermostat thing, they actually are huge jerks, so I don't feel bad.

I love sleeping in cool/cold. Feel refreshed after I wake up. When I wake up from a warm sleep I feel lathargic.

My room is naturally 75F. No central heating/AC in the house. I control temperature by opening and closing windows.

My ex was one of those people that liked everything hot, showering was like boiling my skin. Satin sheets no AC and humid, I never had a good sleep at her place EVER.

its time to go to the doctor if you are cold at 65. i'm serious, this could be a metabolic issue or something. unless you are very old or something 65 should not be cold. at 65 with two comforters most people would sweat

seriously most people are fine sleeping at 60 or even lower. going past 65 is just a ridiculous waste of money.

I used to have the AC on pretty low until I got two very frugal roommates. They wanted it OFF during the day and around 79 at night. They were new to Texas so I figured they hadn't experienced our heat just yet.

We now have it at 79 through out the day and 77 at night. I installed a programmable thermostat to help control the temperature. At first, it was too hot for me but then I adjusted by wearing shorts and a wife beater during the day (if I am home that is, I am usually on campus during the day). I can sleep fine at 77 and I definitely enjoying seeing lower monthly bills.

Anyways, you are on the opposite end of the spectrum. I guess you guys don't have to pay for electricity so your roommies have it on whatever they feel like. I'd probably keep at 74 if I didn't have to pay extra.

Good work. I give it one maybe two nights before they start to catch on.

my room's as close to outside temperature as I can make it all the time (the window's always open). At night, it'll probably drop to 50 something, but it's fine
i like having the breeze

I got some REALLY THICK comforters just because of this... Like I said, my face gets too cold and I wake up very frequently. I've skipped some classes just cuz I was able to raise the temp and actually get some sleep.

I probably won't win, oh well. I'll take a look at the thermostat and see if I can do what Hyperlite said.

This, and then violently wake up your roommates at odd hours of the night.

Here in Florida, we don't HEAT homes, we cool them.

But hey, I have a doctor's appointment on Friday anyways, so I guess I'll mention it.

I usually keep it at around 60. I'm quite comfortable sleeping with my face exposed all the way down to 40 or so.

Wow, the varying opinions in here are weird. I think everyone should list where they live. Maybe for those of you down south that have a few days out of the year where the heat needs to come on are able to tolerate it being low, but here in MN, going 6 months straight with the heat being set at 60 would be insane and I would think terribly bad for you. Also, the type of heat really, really makes a difference. Forced air heating doesn't seem to...penetrate...you, like electric heating does. I know if the heating is set at 68 in the house I'm living at (forced air) I'm chilly, whereas back at my home where it's primarily electric I'm nice and toasty.

My thoughts exactly. If its really 65 then the OP would obviously be one of those who wouldn't have even made it out of the womb without technology.

Seriously, wear long underwear or even sweats to bed. Buy a real comforter (you sure as hell shouldn't need two, of which even two weak ass comforters should be more than enough for 65 degrees). Exercise regularly to try and keep good circulation, maybe even go see a doctor

Now there is a legit chance the OP isn't a complete wuss, the unit might be set to cool to 65 but if the air really is getting dumped right on top of you it could be a lot colder. However there's a solution to this problem as well - redirect the air flow and/or fashion some sort of cover to use as a shield to divert the direct impact of the air.

65 degrees is not that cold. 2 comforters and a sheet for 65 (or a couple degrees cooler, as you mentioned)? What do you have typhus or something?

If you've got that many blankets and are cold at 65 something is wrong. with you.

My roommate first year always used to jack up the heat to full blast on me. It drove me nuts because I wouldn't realized it at first and the thermostat was on his side of the room. One day my friend walked in and it was like 90 degrees in my room during the middle of winter (it was sub-30 outside).

After that year, I think my new roommates and I used to leave it at 60 to save on electricity. I never minded much at night since I like it colder when I'm in bed anyway.

WTF?

65 degrees is warm. Get another fucking blanket.

Edit: It's 74.6º in my room right now, and dropping.. I'll be sleeping with my window open and a single light blanket.

It's 56.8º outside right now, and will drop down to about 50º. I love the fresh, cool air on my face. You're weird.

When I wake up, it will be about 65º in my room. Perfect for sleeping.

I grew up in NC. I need that shit cold for me to sleep. It gets so freaking muggy at night.

OP, you should consider yourself lucky to sleep in the luxurious 65F air.

Have you ever been camping?

maybe you should grow a pair?
