Looooong lines each day around the courthouse, where you go to drop it off in person. Same at all the other county seats around me.

Try some other times during the day. Courthouse drop off times are open for many hours during the day. They can't be that busy all day everyday for a month.

Damn it sucks it is so backward and arbitrary across this country.
In my county, there are 46 drop boxes that are 24/7, and 95% of the people are within 2 miles of a drop box.
What the fuck is wrong with this country?

Exactly what I'm doing here in Pa. It's crucial.

It's not nearly the exaggeration it could be to say it's worth the risk of death to me to make sure Trump is voted out ON the day of the election, not that I think I'm gonna' die from voting in person. Which reminds me, people are TERRIBLE at accurate risk assessment.
exactly!!!

Why the lines? I understand the intentional shortage of drop boxes causing people to have to travel farther to drop off their ballots but what is causing the delay once they are there? Is someone there checking IDs or something?

States Rights? Which is fine for local & State elections, but for National elections there should be unified rules across all states.

Isn't it funny that the people who want no obstacles to purchasing a gun, want so many on voting?

I live literally 5 minutes from the center of Doylestown, Pa, a county seat, where folks can go inside to the County Board of Elections and deal directly with a clerk. That's what I would have done prior to realizing that Pa law preventing the counting of any mail-in ballots to begin before election day impelled me to vote in person Nov. 3rd. And that's what three separate sets of my D-town friends first went to do as well, before seeing the humongous lines.

What each of them did instead is go to a stand-alone ballot box, but you can see why those afraid of any glitch whatsoever would seek the comfort of handing off your ballot in person TO a person. I, myself, never investigated where the stand alone ballot boxes were, either.

If Trump somehow wins, you're going to see this grown man cry.

If Biden wins but the Dems don't take the Senate, you're going to hear this grown man utter long strings of colorful, viscerely descriptive "grown man words" not fit for children or Mike Pence's wife.

It’s almost like “they” know that guns don’t really mean anything when it comes to who controls the reins of power in this country

There is a way PA can blunt Trump's attempt of claiming election is stolen.

Do not release any totals until after mail in votes are counted. Those votes are just as valid as ones cast at polls. There has not been a Presidential election that was decided on Election Day.

Besides WI and PA, the states where mail-in ballots can’t be processed until Election Day are Mississippi and Alabama.

The entire game for Republicans is to slow the counting of early votes in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin -- then pretend that counting these legal votes is somehow cheating because they take a long time to count. If Biden picks off GA, NC and FL -- and that's probably the whole ballgame. But if that does not happen, the Republican game is to try to discount as many LEGAL mail in ballots as possible thru courts, disenfranchising MILLIONS of people.

Exactly what I'm doing here in Pa. It's crucial.

I got my mail-in ballot first. My friends and I all did. Many of them have already mailed it in. Others knew of this dilemma, but are afraid to vote in person because of covid.

It's not nearly the exaggeration it could be to say it's worth the risk of death to me to make sure Trump is voted out ON the day of the election, not that I think I'm gonna' die from voting in person. Which reminds me, people are TERRIBLE at accurate risk assessment.

Get this! You HAVE to bring your unmailed ballot with you to the polls in order to vote!

You can already know that there is a small, but possibly not insignificant percentage of people who will forget to bring their unused mail-in ballot with them.

Meanwhile I believe you can still go to a gun show and get hooked-up with fewer obstacles.

Yeah... you're probably not going to die from voting. Even if you catch COVID, there's about a 99% chance that you're going to fully recover from it.

I can agree with you on one thing... people really are terrible at risk assessment. The early news coverage of this virus didn't help, with the pictures of dead bodies in NYC being loaded into refrigerator trucks making people think that this was going to be the modern day Black Death. The reality didn't come close to leading up to those expectations.

Here are the latest mortality rates after catching COVID.
The study, which was of a single health system, finds that mortality has dropped among hospitalized patients by 18 percentage points since the pandemic began. Patients in the study had a 25.6% chance of dying at the start of the pandemic; they now have a 7.6% chance.

Screw expectations, there is no excuse for the so called great United States being #1 in cases and deaths. What happened to this countries leadership in the world? We've ceded it to a petty orange authoritarian.

All this time were were being fed right wing propaganda that Obama was weakening our country.

Note that's for hospitalized patients. Most people who catch COVID now just stay at home and sleep it off in a few days.

But, hey... you only need to keep up the fearmongering for another two days. It appears that it's having the intended effect for your guy in the poll numbers.

236K dead Americans and you call it "fear mongering". I used to think your issue was day drinking. Instead I think you're just an asshole.

Quite a few countries in Europe are starting a second lock-down, and you're calling it fear-mongering? Obviously they're only doing it to ruin Trump's chances in the polls.

I don't understand why people are suddenly upset about votes needing to be counted beyond the day of election. In all the recent house and senatorial races of note in 2018, many took like 3-4 days before they were officially called because they were still counting ballots. I mean this is pretty normal. Usually someone may claim and early victory but that doesn't mean anything. The Doug jones senate race in alabama didn't get officially called for like a week.

More so, I'd argue that the votes have NEVER been counted by midnight on the election day. There's a reason why the EC meets 1 month after election day. The "election day results" really only started once TV news got involved and we were able to predict results base on early returns. Candidates concede on election day. But they don't LOSE until Monday after the second Wednesday in December of presidential election years

Three early voting locations in Bucks county...D-town, Levittown, and Quakertown.

I went to early voting at the Levittown location. Line was wrapped around the parking lot to go into the building to vote, however, people were walking right up to the drop box to drop in their mail in ballots. My in-laws said the same thing about the Quakertown location. Huge line to vote early, but they walked right up to the drop box. Both locations had officials monitoring the drop box and lots of signs saying "Smile you're on camera" and "one person, one ballot".

Well it's obvious that part of it is just another Republican voter-suppression technique. Though they are taking it one step further - if they can't stop people voting, then don't count the votes.

However, it's also probably true that not being able to call a Senate result for a long time, is much less of a problem than not knowing who should be in the Whitehouse.

The worrying thing is the tendency of Trump-supporters to talk of postal votes 'flipping the result', as though there's a 'result' before those votes have been counted. If you haven't counted all the votes you haven't got a 'result' yet.

The one of the two major political parties in a democracy has quite literally concluded that if everyone votes they will lose. Instead of altering their party platform to appeal to more voters they have decided to prevent as many people from voting as possible and, failing that, to invalidate their votes after the fact.

They would rather live in an autocracy where they are in charge than in a democracy where sometimes they don’t get their way. It is entirely accurate to describe the Republican Party as a fascist organization, and this is probably our last chance to stop fascism before it takes over.

How would you know? Those stats are not kept. Note the cases compiled by John's Hopkins are the KNOWN cases.

You people have been playing this thing as a hoax since the beginning. It's proved deadly for 230,000 people and counting.

Still haven't answered the question why the United States is the worst in the world.
