I'm sorry you had to go through that. Chin up and take heart.

PS: There is nothing wrong with crying.

I seem to recall you once saying how many hours you put into your job and it caused your social life to suffer but you didn't mind. Take this as a reminder that life is short, life it for yourself and only work to live!

You keep on saying "son's owner"...

But damn, you got the short end of the stick of owner/management types. If that kind of review is the type these owners always dish out, then I'd start considering other places since you'll never be a) truly appreciated, b) deservingly compensated, and c) genuinely happy with them.

Serve someone a fried rat and see them get hit with a nice lawsuit and watch their sales shrink.

Similar thing happened to me about 3 months ago. I got two new bosses and they managed by casting doubt and dispersions. The know very little to nothing about what I do or what my job is. Having a family to feed I updated my resume' and now have a 3rd interview with an international company for a national director job earning about 15% more and with more responsibility.

What happened to you is old school. Good people are what make up good businesses. Unless you're trying to run someone off you just don't treat them that way, EVER!! It's clumsy managers bereft of people skills that kill your business for you.

Scott Adams, the author of the comic series Dilbert get's hundreds of stories about these guys ever day. He says that our jobs as good managers is "to get rid of the assholes so the rest of the people can do their jobs."

Update your resume dude, get an interview with 5 other companys and tell your boss you'll be looking to them for a fair reference. It's amazing how they change their tune when they know you're looking.

Best possible regards,

Gravity

I think the higher up you go in McManagment, the more of an ass you have to be.

Just my experience.

The store I worked at was on the verge of being burnt down by angry customers, so don't feel too bad.

Its kinda complicated.
His mom and dad are retired and turned the business to a McDonalds guy(as in he used to work for corporations instead of franchise).
So not too many people like him but as far as meeting McDonalds standards and such, hes doing pretty well.

So its him as the president....2 VPs and then about 6 area supervisors....
and the owner's son is an area supervisors and one of his 4 stores is mine so he is directly my boss.
Hes content on being as a supervisor right now and we go hang out and stuff.
I've known him for a while as I we went through school together and such.
As far as power wise, hes doesn't like to overstep his boundries but he ried to defend me during that meeting as much as he could.

If all that make any sense to you or even care.
I feel like telling them to fvck off but I hate to leave him short handed as he will have to find another store manager.

You need to do what you can to provide for yourself and your family. Keep you chin up, keep doing your best. Before any sort of review, assume the worst. My company told me they wouldn't be having any reviews for another 18 months. In one way it's good as I won't have to listen to their BS, but it also means no raise either...

The Florida region is averaging 84%.

Hey, I really understand that part of the business chain and I feel for you. When my website was just beginning,

Ok, I'll skip the story. But the thing you have to remember is all the people that are proud of you. If your staff isn't already enjoying their work, improve that. You have to first gain trust from the lower part of the chain. After that, you slowly build relations with the upper part of the chain by calling people up for advice how to improve maybe one month after this meeting. Get that person's opinions, build off of that and work harder. Next month, get another person's input and adjust the place accordingly. Do this for some time, and before you realize it, you'll become friends with those. After that, its hard work and a little bit of luck. If you ever have any questions or anything, feel free to ask me.

One more thing, work REALLY hard these next few months after the meeting. You need to show them you're serious, because honestly, there will be a ton of people who can bring the POC up a little after the person before, but very few can survive a bad meeting, improve from that experience, and get to that high POC level.

Also, if you didn't during the meeting, call up each person, and ask HOW to improve in each area. Or call another meeting if you didn't really get any input on HOW to improve. I'm talking down to earth details, not vague ass results like "Keep the customers happy." I mean answers in the form of: "Guy 1 in the food line is a little slow, put him in another spot or help him out personally get a little faster, this way customers get food faster, making them happy."

Take that meeting as a learning experience more than a "We want to bash at you" meeting.

They are just niggeling you so they don't have to give you a raise.
I work for Disney and they are legend at such tactics.

At this point I wouldn't worry about a raise, I would worry about improving upon as many areas as you can.

Whats there not to understand.
Hes the owner's own but hes also a friend I've known for over 12 yrs. He got me back into McDonalds in the first place.
He is directly my boss and its probably the reason why I Don't want to just tell him to fvck off.
If I quit, he will be in a bind as it is his store.
We hang out together all the time so with me quitting and leaving him in a bind...its something I don't like to do.

So do you understand now ??

People are saying you writing "son's owner" doesn't make sense because you're writing the grammatical possesive backwards.... "owner's son" not, "son's owner".

On topic, if you plan on leaving, why don't you tell your friend before so he can begin looking for a store manager before you quit?

Cripes, thats the bottom of the barrel. How can your life get any worse?

What do you do?

Sadly, not much (if any) better.

System programmer for a major telecom company who is considering outsourcing to india. Workload is not too bad, and I can surf the web often between tasks.

In my line of work, 86% is 5hitty, but you work in fast food. Your main service may not be convenience, it's speed. You're bound to trample a few people in the process.

I work at Walgreens, and I even work at a slow store for that matter. If a customer has a problem, I talk with them one-on-one before I even get my manager (unless they request it.) To grab your manager first-thing gives the impression that you don't personally care about the problem. (To be honest, I usually do, but certain people are asses. Those are the people I dump to my manager to get even for the 5hit they do to me.) I usually get my manager when I ether can't handle the situation, need more authority to fix it (such as making things free to satisfy them), or don't care.

If I worked at Wal-Mart (to bring a retail example into it), for example, my main service wouldn't be convenient service but rather bulk, efficient value. If I'm stocking 5hit that a dozen people are about to buy, I would have a different attitude if some old lady wanted me to do her shopping for her considering that bulk is how 5hit is sold in that environment.

You got served a fried rat?

You gotta admit, seeing those two right after the other was funny. At least it was for me... I'm getting overtired.

LMAO! Reminds me of a Burker King I went into one day...

The area near the softdrink dispenser had a scent of piss strong enough to kill flies. The floors were greasy, and the tables were a dump. I think they changed management just to prevent the board of health from shutting them down. Now it's one of my favorite joints... right across the street from work with clean facilities and good food.

I wonder what the old managers are doing. They're probably the guys under the bridges holding cardboard signs.
