My Tbird is going Crazy!?

For the second time this week, my T-Bird has acted like it had no cooling. One time it got up to 109C. I put some thermal grease in the imprint in the thermal pad that the processor made. After that my processor was then back to the normal 35C. Then just now it did it again! I quickly shut it off and now I am going to get the whole thermal pad off and I am going to reapply thermal paste. I just hope that it is not fried. Maybe the fan shut off or something (I have to use a 4prong-3prong adapter because the threeprong fan plugs on the motherboard do not work). Does anyone know how this could have happened? I was playing a vivious game of Red Alert 2 when it happened, but usually the temp is about 45 when I am playing a game. Could there be something wrong with the motherboard?

Where is the termistor on your board located? Also, did you say that you are using both thermal grease and a thermal pad??

I have since removed the thermal pad and have just thermal grease. The processor runs at about 45C which is too hot at idle. I think that I am just going to get a new fan.

After all of this, my sound card does not work....

PISS!!!!!!

I'm gonna reinstall windows and see if that does anything, except that I think that it is a hardware problem.
