My television disintegrated!

I had a perfectly fine 15 year old Sony 25" Trinitron I never used and was giving to a friend. The second I moved it, the plastic pieces started breaking off. Then as I was pushing it on its TV stand, it started collapsing to one side and making cracking sounds. I got it into a minivan to take to my friend's place and every bump I hit, I heard crunching sounds. Finally, some idiot with a handicapped license plate decided to come to a complete stop in the left lane of the highway and I had to brake hard and swerve to avoid hitting him. I looked into my rear view mirror and my TV was gone.

I reached my friend's apartment went opened the hatch and saw a pile of plastic and a picture tube. There were speakers completely detached and millions of little pieces of plastic everywhere. I couldn't believe that a TV would fall apart like that. It was surreal. I guess these plastics they use really are biodegradeable. I should have taken pics but I was too POed and just threw the remains into a dumpster.

i believe it. I had a 27 in Sony Trinitron. Same thing happened to me, except the bottom collapsed and the innards just fell on my foot while we were moving it. worst thing that could happen when your insurance runs out.....

The radiation disintegrates the bonds in the plastic over time. Imagine what it does to your brain.

Um, I think he said this was a Trinitron, not a Chernobyl reactor.

Trust me, I had the Sony Chernobyl Reactor, the picture quality was not that great.

My family's TV broke on Thursday. A 46" Sony something or other we've been using for awhile - at least 13 years.

On Saturday we moved it out of the house to make room for the new 42in LCD TV we bought and got rid of the VHS/DVD deck and replaced it with a PS3 I questioned if it was worth the cost, but watching House on the local HD channels... yes. Yes it is.

I remember that thing. And Nuka-Cola. Oh man I have a hankering for some Nuka cola right about now.

It tended to overheat too.

We had a TV in the kitchen that stopped working after two years. It was sitting on top of a large toaster oven.

This is what the bottom looked like! :Q

No Sony brand just Symphonic junk. We bought the $399 32" Hitachi 720P from Newegg and mounted it on the wall. Monoprice brackets FTW!

What kind of "large" toaster oven was it? A Blodgett pizza oven?

Hint: Heat rises... even outside of the physical confines of the toaster oven.

Perhaps it is the same place as Arcadio's printer paper?

Seriously though, where was it stored? I had a 14-16 year old 35"? (maybe 36") JVC with built in 4.1 and rather large stereo speakers. I gave it away a couple years ago when I bought a LCD for the bedroom, and it was still working and in great condition, except for the phosphors condition resulting in a noticeably faded PQ.
