Is there anything that I can take to prevent the cold/sore throat? I seem to recall everyone talking about some herb (echanasia?) that's supposed to work, but I'm a bit skeptical.

I don't know about echanasia. But you should try euthanasia. I heard that is pretty effective.

Prevent it? No.
You can alleviate it somewhat, though. I use hall's cough drops w/ eucalyptus. They keep the throat kind of "oily" so that it doesn't feel like scorched sandpaper.

Interesting, I've never seen those for sale at a grocery/drugstore. Are they only available online?

If you take a dose of Vitamin C and twice the serving size of echinacea, I all but guarentee it will piddle out & you won't get sick.

*sigh* I hate getting sick.
Thanks, I'll pick some of those up... it's just frustrating everytime I try to swallow and it hurts.

How about a doctor? He can check you out and give you some stuff to hopefully nip it in the bud.
otherwise vitamin C and fluids and most importantly plenty of rest. body needs to be able to fight the bug.

Keep your throat cold. Bacteria thrives in warmth.
