I put in a new keyboard in my dell inspiron 8000 laptop. Everything went really well considering I've never taken taken a computer apart in my life before, but now my touchpad doesn't work! Anybody know how to set-up the touchpad again? Thanks!
Sometimes I've found the small ribbon cable connecting the trackpad to the motherboard has come loose. To check this, remove the keyboard and see if you can find the 2nd ribbon cable (the first one being the thing that connects the keyboard to the motherboard).
I'm not able to take the whole bottom of the laptop off so as to get the touchpad all the way in even when I take all the screws off-are there screws by the plug in parts of the computer under the monitor when the computer is open)? I just can't figure out how to slide the part off to get at the guts of the computer easier.
