my tounge is swollen

Ok I finally made the plundge to pierce my tounge. Guess I had nothing better to do with 40 bucks.

It didnt hurt at all. just a little pressure.

But now its 16hours old and swollen. I havent eaten in about 20 hours and i feel like im starving. just eating ice. cant even get the pudding to go where it should hehehe.
How do I learn to eat again?

Kenny, piercing your ear is not that bad. The only area to avoid is the soft bone of your ear.

Ibuprofen or something similar may help with the swelling. Keep using the ice. The swelling is normal. I did my ear myself but have no intention of ever doing my tongue (or other parts).

I agree. I have three in the cartilage and they actually hurt less than the ones in my earlobes. I had my belly button pierced and that hurt when I got it but wasn't too bad afterwards when it was healing.

I have my tongue pierced also, but mines wasnt as bad. My tongue was swolen, but it didnt hurt that much.... I even ate steak for dinner.

your tongue can stay swollen for up to 48 hours. don't worry, continue to suck on ice and do your salt water and listerine treatments at least every 4 hours and when you wake up and goto bed. the time to worry is when you actually have pain in the pierced area. check to see if the pierced area is bright red or if there is a discharge from the pierced area. then you gotta pull that thing out and really increase the amount of cleanings to let it heal.
as for food...get Ramen noodles and take out the little packet. smash the crap out of the noodles still in the bag then prepare the normal way. soups are good as long as they dont have large pieces that need to be chewed a bunch. definitely stay away from a 26oz rare portehouse steak i made that mistake after piercing my own tongue. my post has been in for 4 years, my gf loves it and its pretty much un-noticeable. the only thing that bugs me is when i eat long noodle type foods. the noodles sometimes wrap around the post and when you swallow, the noodle stops about half-way down your throat *choke*

You'll probably have a swollen tongue for about 5 days. I just ate soup mostly. And drank beer! It helps to keep the swelling down because it's cold.

why in the world would anyone want to get their bodies pierced? Especially the tongue; there is a very high chance of infection. I mean, at least with ear piercings its meant to enhance attractiveness, but with tongues it just gives most people the impression you're a whore/punk.

I dont like girls with piercings, even ears. I like girls to be un-mutilated.

haha.... I have a few friends who have their tongues pierced. I just dont see it. I think its sorta disgusting.

And BTW, I tried to have an open mind once, but people kept trying to put sutff in it so I quit.

Heh.. reminds me of that movie "The Rat Race", where the kid pierced his tongue, and it gets swollen and turns green... poor guy can barely talk.

If you don't have any, get yourself some ibuprofen (Advil). It will bring the swelling down a little, and make it more livable.

Also, rinse your mouth every hour to every other hour with Listerine diluted 1/3 in water. The guy who did my tongue told me to rinse with straight Listerine, which kills the good enzymes in the mouth that promote healing.
