My weird habit

i dont eat the crunchy, pointy ends of french fries. not real sure why. i like soggy fries, so ill eat the part in the middle if the ends are overcooked and crunchy. my kids think im weird.

If I am at a pizza buffet I eat the pizza with a knife and fork instead of picking up the slices. I also have a tendency at restaurants to unfold and refold a single napkin until all the surfaces are used instead of just using more napkins.

I can't sit still...ever. When I am at meetings I will fold a dollar bill into weird shapes. I even looked up a website that has dollar origami.

Stairs: If I don't know the particular stairwell, I start with the left foot being the one last on the floor I'm on - right foot hits the step first.
Otherwise, I go so I arrive left-foot-first on the destination floor.

Candies like Skittles or M&M's get eaten in even numbers, usually 2 or 4 at a time.

Dishes get washed in sequence: Bowls, large plates, small plates, odd shapes, silverware, though this is mainly for packing efficiency in the dish drainer, and ease of placement.

If I'm fairly engrossed in engineering homework, my left hand is usually running through my hair slowly. I seem to have a nearly infinite supply of hair though, since there are often at least 40 strands of hair on the desk after I've been working for awhile, yet nothing is thinning. I seem to always have had thick hair - I was even born with a pretty decent layering of it. Thankfully, that's mainly where it's confined to; no Austin-Powers-chest-hair or anything like that, thank god.


That's all that comes to mind now; the first three things are usually done just to give my mind something menial to occupy itself with while I'm doing something else which is itself quite menial and mundane.
The latter simply seems to help keep me calmed and focused; if I'm really working on engineering homework, I can get almost entranced, and lost track of time. Once I get on a roll like that, I don't like to break out of it, since it is when I work most efficiently.

I roll little balls of wool or nylon fiber between my thumb and index finger to relieve stress. It is very calming and I've done this for as long as I can remember, definitely starting before I went to school. Only problem is that gathering the fiber creates holes in my blankets after a while.

When I eat, I arrange everything on my plate so that nothing touches anything else. I don't like gravy because it breaks the no touching rule. If it is impossible to avoid items touching for some reason, I eat them one at a time.

There are only a few exceptions to the no touching rule, most of which involve pasta and some kind of sauce.

Don't ask me why I do this, I've done it since I was a kid.

Sounds like many people here have some OCD traits. I'm a chronic hand washer. I'm better than I used to be. I probably washed my hands at least 50 times a day 10 years ago. I'm probably under 20 now...

Which was funny when I was getting a new watch band. She asked me "You wash your hands a lot, don't you?" I laughed and "Yeah, how can you tell?" "Normally, people have dead skin cells and hair under their watch band. Yours is all soap."
