My wire's too short!!! Help

I recently got a new MB to drop in an old Gateway P5-166 full tower case. went to install today, and my power switch wire lead to MB is too short.

Other than clipping the wire and splicing in an extra length, does anyone have any ideas about how to deal with this?

If not, what guage wire should I use? If I do splice, I'll be using stranded wire (for flexibility), soldering the splices, and wrapping the splice with electrical tape.

Splicing it is your best option. It is best if you can replace the wires on the switch or add on a new connector so that you only have on splice per wire. Wire size isn't that important, but try to use the smaller sizes (22 - 26) so that you have the flexability. also stagger your splaces so that there is about an inch difference between th. that way if the tape loosens they can't short together.

If you have a very energy-consuming processor, maybe you will need a new power source. If not, use electrical tape, use wire the same thickness as the one existing (so it won't heat more than necessary) and be sure no wire can loose it's insulation (electrical tape)

Use the Reset wire instead - works just as well.
