The rest of the myth, I really don't care about except I see everyone here argue it. But I mean, how did the mythbusters prove anything? Both the toy plane and the real plane were traveling faster than the conveyor belts.

point is you can't get teh speed to match. it is not possible.

the thrust of the engines or pull fo the propeller are going to win out. UNLESS you have something hooked to the body of the plane. the wheels have ZERO effect over it.

the whole concept has flown completely over your head ...

Ugh.

The treadmill is only going to increase the wheel speed, which has nothing to do with the airspeed.

So if that plane normally takes off at 25 mph and the treadmill is going backwards at 25 mph, the plane will still take off at 25 mph airspeed. If you had a speedometer on the wheels, it would say it was going 50 mph. But it would be pointless to have a speedo on the wheels since airspeed is all that matters.

The real morans are the ones who dealt with 59 minutes of BS from a Mythbusters episode to watch the part everyone cared about.

<----Moran, apparently.

Dude, did you see that foam? FOAM man. FRIGGIN' FOAM! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I could have told you that. Great Stuff is crazy enough. the industrial foams are just nuts.

We've had cans of Great Stuff puncture at work. It's fun to watch it, but cleaning it up is a bitch.

You see, the treadmill is like blu-ray, the airplane is like HD DVD. No matter how fast Blu-Ray goes, HD DVD will still take off.

rofl.

Seriously, it just doesn't matter. The treadmill speed has no affect on the plane since the wheels are free spinning.

A-B foam man. It's good stuff. It's a 2 part liquid compound, when mixed really foams up. Filled a couple of buckets of the stuff and put it in a car. Cool stuff.

They did it because the frozen shaving cream foam in the car didnt work well.

Sadly, there's a reason why we are graduating less engineers every year. America is doomed.

Too bad we didn't tag everybody who didn't get this question, put them all in Arkansas, and nuke them. THis country would automatically be competitive again. Less brain drain.

Seriously, is there anyone left who really thinks the plane won't take off?

Can we finally put this to rest?

It expands at something like 10:1 and then hardens. They put 15 gallons of the industrial stuff in a car and then it expanded.

Earlier I gave an example of a plane that wouldn't take off. A floatplane (one without little wheels on the pontoons).

Or, how about a fucking treadmill's got NOTHING TO DO with whether or not the plane moves? Screw the wheels, put the bare plane down on a treadmill and it will still take off. You'll probably scrape the crap out of the underbody, but goddamnit UP IT GOES.

Haha! Srsly lol'ed. Srsly.
