For those of you who missed the earlier posts about elite:

3x as many bosses

Monsters do more damage and have more HP

Items you sell to merchants return half the gold they do in normal

But, more bosses = better chance of drops, and it's more difficult. With my lvl17 normal char, I could sweep large groups of enemies with ease. In elite, it's much more challenging.

After I made an elite, I talked the majority of the people in my clan who were playing into make elite chars. They are all happy they did, so I think it's well worth it.

I got a 40 red hand summoner BL (normal diff though) but let me know if you got any questions about skills. Stat distribution will probably be different for you though since you're doing HCE.

Probably depends on the tree you pick. As a red hand (summoner) I find myself increasing Wisdom (need tons 'o mana) a lot. Str & Vitality, and finally Dex. I think I'll cap out on my wisdom soon and start dumping more into the others.

I forget what tree its from but the Whirl Wind column is awesome. That along with putting more into the wielding blades to increase bleeding or attack speed or whatever.

Well, I guess there are no viable builds after you have maxed the passives for marksman (gadgeteer) - I'm level 24 or 25, and I'm only as good as my guns. Points into other skills are useless unless I have 30+ points (15+ levels) to put into them. Shitty.

If you're going martialist, then blade breaker is by far the most powerful ability. The furious focus line is good as well, and is a solid complement to any melee build. For crimsonate, I think the PF line is the standard tactic. Rend is still bugged so I don't think its worth it. For Red Hand just max out the bloodling line and the bloodling buff. Crimson mark has a small range and its only marginally useful, but its just one point so get it if you want I guess. Summoners typically get the bloodling + buff skills then pick a damage spell. You can pick the imps, but their damage is significantly worse than bloodlings. All 6 imps you get at max rank = 1 bloodling. You're better off picking a spell like blood sleet or blood command.
Stat-wise, if you're not going hardcore, don't worry about vit. If you go summoner, most people go all wisdom (I chose to go all str with my summoner so that I could wield better melee weaps--you need a corpse to start creating bloodlings and its very difficult to do this using wis weaps). For any other bloodletter build, you should go all str for max dmg. You really don't need dex for +hit since you get attack rating bonuses from skills and equip.

For gadg, you should go for the piercing barrage line after you max out your passives. The alternative active ability to PB is napalm. It got nerfed in the last patch but it still does solid damage. None of the widgets are really worthwhile at this point since they move slowly, but the galvanic widgets can be good for boss fights. In the grenade tree, noxious grenade is nice since it scales well (does %hp damage) but it still kills slowly, so it'd work better as a side ability to go with gun damage.
Keep in mind that gun damage was nerfed, dex's affect on gun damage was nerfed (1% -> .5% dmg per point), and also all +%dmg mods on weapons were halved on new items. The net result is that there aren't many good guns out there. Depending on your difficulty I can give you a prepatch gun, does 175 dmg requires 133 dex.

God damnit, that figures. I started dropping points into imp simply because the biggest nemesis of bloodlings are anything ranged. 2 or 3 arrows from an archer pops a bloodling easily, I figured the imps would be equally as useful.

I'm playing elite, and my pistols are doing more damage than my rifle, which is why I haven't put any points into any rifle skills.. I wish they had pistol skills. But yeah my current guns are all like 20-60 damage, heavy flintlock rifle or something along those lines. I maxed the healing widget, since it is somewhat useful for tanking, but not much else.

I'd love the gun - I think I have around 110 dex right now, but a few epics will take care of that.

Ah sorry Canai, I'm in normal. Just keep make sure to check the gambler in tulin's hope and stone head for good rifles.
SunnyD: if your bloodlings are dying, you just need more +minion gear. After you max out the bloodling skills and have some +minion health/armor, they'll hardly ever die. What I like to do is lead my bloodlings into a group of monsters then run back a room. The bloodlings will automatically aggro nearby monsters and keep going until there isn't a monster within about half a screen (then they'll run back to you). Sometimes one bloodling will solo entire rooms and not die.
For some easy to get minion gear, zone in and out of wethryn's cross and/or tulin's hope and check the mystic merchant. He sells rings/amulets. Look for purple or orange jewelry with +minion stats. You can get some with ~+10-15 to all 3 stats for level 0-9, ~+15-20 for lvl 10-19, and +2x for lvl 20+

Eh, I haven't leveled up quite yet anyway. I think I'm only like level 8 or 9 on my HCE char, so I don't have all the buffs quite yet.

Wanted to say thanks again, this is a pretty fun game.

I've been going along with a Gadgeteer putting everthing into marksman. I went with RR early on and was wondering if there were any known problems with the RR line?

I kind of stopped playing, its a cool game but found a lot of repeatitive stuff ( i used to play MMORPGs (never wow, ) and all that just came back to me. I'm not a level grinder anymore. Titan Quest was an exception since its such an awesome game.

For a free game, I think it is awesome. In all seriousness, it really is a fun game. I hope the release adds more and more content. Its great for people who love this type of game.

I'm playing normal. If I read one of the loading screens right. The level range you see isn't the recommended level for you, it's the level range of the monsters inside. On elite level monsters have more HPs, hit harder and items you sell get you less money than on normal.

For chatting, if you hover your mouse over the chat area it will darken and tabs will appear across the top for Global, Local, Party, and Guild.

You seriously shouldn't just jump right into elite. I know everyone wants to be cool and pick elite and/or hardcore from the get go, but its really not for new players. Play normal and enjoy the game. There is no real benefit to elite for new players, just additional frustration.

Finding a good rifle is one of my problems as well. If you still happen to still have that gun and are willing to part with it I have a gadg that would put it to good use.

Yeah I just stuck with normal. When I started I didn't know what elite was and was pretty sure what hardcore would be so I left them alone. Thanks, my name is Wryx ingame.
