is on Fox news and the Communist News Network.

they say they will "open its nuclear deterrent to the public as a physical force.

personally i would wait til they launch then "test" our ABMS, then send a public apology to N Korea for mistaking thier missile for our target drone.

I doubt they would test the a warhead on a missile.

They are likely going to test the warhead alone underground (or maybe on just as a surface detonation).

If they did however test a missile and we had a shot at it I definately think it would be good for us to try to shoot it down.

I remember a while back when North Korea was testing its missiles by shooting them over Japan, I thought it would have been good for us to send our prototype THAAD system out there to knock them down.

As OFFascist said, they wouldn't test a full missile/warhead assembly. More likely an underground test. Or, if they wanted maximum pr impact, and have the free space to waste, a surface test.

And if they did try a full assembly test, I'm not sure it would be a good idea at all to try an intercept. Firstly we'd have to be damn sure it would work (a long way from being garuangteed just yet) and secondly you've got to remember taht a succesful intercept would have nasty effects in the immediate area. Thats fine when you are at war, and someone is attacking you, but not in a test on their own territory. In fact, that would be an overt act of war, and give them Casus belli to do whatever they damn well wanted.

them testing a nuke would not surprize me. It Seems N. Korea's last chance in Detering a possible conflict.

Huh, building nukes to DETER a military intervention.

They are following the policy of the United states in the Cold war to prevent the US from making their country a parking lot for the olympics.

We all know that once they have a nuke, Our country wouldnt dare attempt any conflict with them.

1 nuke sent to Japan and no more HDTV's and DVD's.

Funny how the radical right-side resorts to name-calling and bringing up ancient history to "defend themselves" whenever someone moderate or left even looks at the wrong.

As cold as it sounds, other than the nuclear fallout that would blow across the pacific a nuclear conflict in Asia would be a good thing for the US.

Sure we would lose out on all the electronics and whatnot made in the region for a while, but it would force the US companies to ramp and and produce the stuff here at home, or atleast in Mexico or something.

I'm suprised they havent dont that yet. Nother better to boost your "negotiation stance" that by showing off a nuke. However, even if they did I dont see how much good it will do them. We are gonna leave NK alone simply because of the reprocussions in Soeul that exist with or without nukes. They are toast if we try anything against NK. That is all the "deterrence" they need really. That is why they say they want nukes, isn't it? Detterence against us?

good point, but then again if we can shoot one down...we can another, they would have to realize that. the larger message would be "oh Kim you got nukes and missiles to carry them! and we have the means to shoot them down...back to square one eh?

building a nuclear facility-a few million. making nuke weapons-a few more million. kim jong ill realizing having nukes is now pretty much a moot point...priceless!

and NK does not want to really piss off japan too much, one thing the Japanese have in common with israel is a long history of kicking the butt of the larger countries around them, especially china. also japan has had to nuclear detonations in anger on thier soil, they are not going to allow NK to have them...long. i remeber some quotes by the japanese prime minister to that effect, i will see if i can find them.

unfortunately that would just trigger hyperinflation and computer would go back to costing $2000-$3000 dollars as component parts skyrocket. [ex: minor earthquake in TW and ram prices jump]. your forgetting the pacific rim of asian countries are willing to work for a lot less than the average US wage

however we would have a nice new war to pursue so the extra defense spending will surely negate a portion of the downturn and boost the GDP, lockheed style

would be nice to give kim jong a special delivery from a JSF...

Yeah umm if NK launched a nuke towards Japan. The world would have alot more issues than no more HDTVs or DVDs.
