Mad Max,
I love the original trilogy and all the darkness of the 1st, the good badness of the road warrior, and the pure campy corniness of walker bartertown the 3rd.
Fury Road is freakin awesome. It might even be my favorite Mad Max movie, even though it's not "about" max.

I figured since it was 30+ years after the original, and had a different actor playing the main part, it would be considered a reboot even though it's got the same director as the original.

True Grit 2010 was more true to the book, and a far superior film in my opinion.

I didnt get this movie. Yes I had fun watching it but I thought it was nothing special.

I consider Nolan's batman and Casino Royale to be remakes/reboot.

Yes I get it that they have different Bonds and Batmans throughout time, but Batman Begins & CR were a real fresh look at their heroes as more human than not.

And I love a well-done origin story. Both nail it portraying them as haphazard and vulnerable new agent or batman.

I actually though TDK was bit pretentious and TDKR was completely mediocre not that the nerd-hype has died down. BB was most wholesome and grounded in my opinion.

Same goes for CR. The rest were all awful. Spectre was an embrassment, worse than QoS. Skyfall was acceptable.

I hope Craig go out with a strong finish similar to Logan.

Planet of the Apes.

The order in which I like them is 2 > 1 > 3 however both parts 2 and 1 were pretty damn incredible. Part 3 was a little out there, but I mean at that point you had apes who were as smart as humans for the most part so it was going to be a little cheesy.

I feel a lot of the horror remakes are better just due to technology. It's hard to watch older horror flicks and get scared. Sure I can appreciate them, but as far as being entertaining and just "good" movies to me, a lot of them don't hold up especially compared to some of the remakes.

This remake felt more like she was a plot device for bridges and damon banter.

As always, context is important. I looked up the novel on wiki. It was written late 60s. I get it now - the grit of mattie ross.

It's like me watching Rent in late 200x. Back in 90s the issues Rent tackled were hot issues of it's time (homosexuality, AIDS, bohemian lifestyle, etc).

By the time I saw it, they were no big deal. I felt like I was missing something why Rent was so influential.

Wow. So few agree with your (and my) take on the Nolan trilogy, but it looks like we think alike.

Batman Begins was far superior. Motivations and actions were more believable and more grounded despite the setting (fantasy Gotham, not Chicago Gotham). It’s the perfect example of a comic book film adapting the source material correctly for a wider audience.

I don’t think it’s possible to more believably explain why a rich man might dress up as a bat and become a vigilante. With Nolan’s signature flashback storytelling, he nailed it.

I have both the original Swedish versions and the Americanized versions on BR. I prefer the Swedish versions more, but the American versions relieved me of having to read subtitles. And I actually prefer subtitles to dubbed audio because I want to hear the actor's original voice.
