the original or Tom Cruise version?
b/c the Tom Cruise blasphemy is indeed crap.
The Tom Cruise version.
I wasn't aware of another one. I don't see anything on IMDB.

I know I will be crushed for this...
Battlefield Earth
bracing for impact...

Fuck too late. Been a LONG time since I've seen it but it's good!
Yeah I don't like Tom Cruise in anything really. Even his role in Magnolia is by FAR the weakest!
I have been looking to watch some bizarre, thought provoking movies these days, the kind that makes you think. Maybe watch it again to see if you can get more meaning. You try to get others to watch, but they can't sit through it and it frustrates you.
As for me, I will start the thread with the movie Brazil. It's EXTREMELY important to watch the directors version of this movie, or the meaning is completely lost IMO. I have watched it probably a dozen times throughout my life. It comes across as a British comedy on the surface, but the undertones and meanings are dark and frightening. A true work of genious, right down to the camera angles. You will need about 3 hours to watch it, and you will need to be away from any distractions...it's the little things in this movie that will surprise. The scariest thing about it...it was made in the 80s, and it rings much truer today (kind of like 1984). Yikes!
Thumbs up for Magnolia and Fifth Element.
Have only seen the edited version of Brazil; will need to see the DC.
I can't think of any off the top of my head that no one else likes - plenty of Coen brothers fans in here, including me.
Does anyone here like any of David Cronenberg's movies though? I recall being pretty weirded out by Dead Ringers and Naked Lunch, so I'm not sure if I should watch any of his more recent stuff.
I've seen both Brazil and Parnassus, and frankly - I felt like I was tripping acid even though I haven't in 10 years. Maybe if I was tripping acid I would of liked them more
I didn't hate either, but I find both overrated.
BTW I got most of Parnassus and liked it more - but I didn't get Brazil at all. In fact, if you wouldn't mind PM'ing me what the breakthrough at the end is maybe I will appreciate the movie more
This thread isn't gonna get anywhere until someone says it... Avatar. :sneaky:
Oh please don't post any spoilers!!!
EDIT: Sorry didn't read carefully enough that you said to PM, I will do that now
The ending took me a while to figure out, like at least 3 watches. Again, you MUST watch the director's cut or it makes no sense at all. I respectfully disagree with you that the movie is overrated.
And as for trippin on acid, yeah it's like that
LOL

Eastern Promises is supposed to be fairly good but I've never seen it myself. It is supposed to be his most "normal" film to date. I saw most of crash on late night TV when I was a teen (showcase provided good faping material for teens :biggrin, it's not a good film but there is some killer erotic imagery in there.

which version of Brazil did you watch? The theatrical release was a complete clusterfuck.
Looks like I saw the original theatrical release
I'm going to have to get the dir cut and check it out
