First off, my 10th grade English teacher showed us the director's cut of Brazil. (This was a long, long time ago). If I ever see her again, I am going to thank her for finally waking me up. She also showed us old underrated Hitchcock movies like Rebecca (very good flick)... I'm the same age she was then... very enlightened girl (for a HS teacher).
it gets appreciated on here but amongst my family and friends they all think 'gattaca' is a boring piece of crap. ill have the last laugh though when it becomes reality in the near future! ok, no i wont because they still wont give a shit.
Gattaca is awesome. I figured ATOT would be the Gattaca appreciation society though.
It is a fantastic movie up until the third act. I actually like the ending, but I don't like the rest of that last act.
I Love You, Man. I think it's funnier than The Hangover, and probably the most brilliant comedy of last year. That and The Invention of Lying.
No. No. No. I love You Man is a very contrived effort at a "bromance". I like Paul Rudd despite his overly fond opinion of himself, but if I ever here him say "slappin the bass" again, I will punch him, even if I have to fly across country to do so. The entire movie is way too forced.
Invention of lying was terrible as well. Gervais shot all of it in one take and it shows. It had potential, though the second half of the script needed a lot of work.
Also, I'm going to say that City of God is underrated and unappreciated. Not here though. I suspect most ATOT posters like it, but every adult I've recommended it to hated it and most couldn't sit through it. I realize it's very tough to watch at times, but I found it to be deeply affecting and thoughtful despite all of the violence. Just don't understand the visceral negative reactions I get.
