I take that back. I never finished Kid Icarus.

Minus world was infinite, don't think there was an ending to it.

Kid Icarus, you had to beat 2x to get the princess from medusa IIRC. I hated those eggplant wizards... grrrr

but after going thru 2x you get all the super weapons so it's much easier.

Man, I was able to make Tyson my b!tch in Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I LOVED that game and I got to the point where I could almost TKO him in the first round. The only thing that saved Tyson was the time.

Now you want to talk about some bullsh!t game, and I believe it was mentioned in this thread, was freakin' Ghosts 'n Goblins and Ghouls 'n and Ghosts. I by some mirracle beat Ghosts 'n Goblin on the NES but there was no beating it at the arcades (give it a shot on MAME). I think I may open up a bar and have the arcade version of Ghosts 'n Goblins sitting there and charge people $.50 to play it. I'll offer $1000 for ANYONE to beat that thing. If no one has beat it in 6 months, I may bump up the prize to $10,000. Don't worry, ain't no one beating that thing.

I get them confused which one is the one on the Genesis? Ghouls and Ghosts or Ghosts and Goblins?

Most of those NES games came right from the arcade. The idea there is to steal as many quarters from people as possible. You are not supposed to win. Thats why so many endings just said "Thanks for Playing".
Designers kept that mentality for a long time after the move to consoles.

Probably why I switched so easily to PC games. In Doom, you could save right before the final boss. Right in the middle of the final boss. Then if you got killed, load up and get right back in there. Awesome.

That's true but it's also true that there were a lot of games back then that were hard but easily beatable with skill and lots of practise. You really get a rush after beating some game like that after playing for several weeks! Today there are a lot of games that can be beaten without any skill because you can save at any time, that doesn't mean saving is a bad thing it's not! It's also not to say that there aren't a lot of hard games that still need skill, there are, but there are also a lot of games that can be beaten by just reloading a couple hundred times.

there was a mission impossible game for PC. you have to go through building and search. Alas, I can't find it anymore.
PM me if you know that game or where I can pick it up.

I'll leave the prize at $1000 just incase those guys come over. I'd pay to see them beat it. For me it's just something you've gotta see to believe.

Nobody has yet mentioned....

Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal Expansion

I remember around the fifth level the game just became impossible...hordes and hordes of orcs or humans would constitute an endless charge.

Pissed me off since Blizzard usually makes pretty easy to play games.
